Decided upon this series as a Men's small group study and it has been wonderful. I am a reformed Christian and most of the others are not. I love the style and structure of MacArthur's writing and follow him already, and love that there is no sugar-coating or escaping the hard truths about our Lord. While not attempting to convert others to reformed thinking, the truths pointed out are inescapable. The depth and breadth of the material is exceptional and all in the study have more discussion than any other (aside from BSF International) that I have been a part of. The material and way it is presented allow for all to participate.

We are using this Book for a Bible Study with a group of friends. We just finished MacArthur's Book "Twelve Extraordinary Women", it was fantastic- learned a lot of little gems as we focused on these women's stories one at a time. We're hoping the same is true of this. Only read the first chapter so far, but found a lot of interesting tid- bits in it. John MacArthur is a great author- he has very good insights into subjects. Biblically sound.

This was a very interesting, easy to read book which brought together a lot of scholarship to make the

Apostles "come alive." MacArthur shows how these very fallible, ordinary men were discipled by Jesus and then

filled by the Holy Spirit to become the founders of His church despite opposition from Jewish leaders and the

Roman Empire.

MacArthur does an outstanding job of describing the characters of each of the Apostles. Amazing how God choses the ordinary to carry out his plan.

This is a fine book by John MacArthur, stemming from his talks on these men. It features the twelve apostles of Jesus, with a wonderful intrductory chapter, "real life" interactions, approrpiate historical and geographical references, and many Bible quotations. It brings these "ordinary" men to life, and shows the power of the Savior in transforming their lives by His Word and the Spirit.
