Twas the evening of Christmas, when all through the town,
Every inn was so crowded, no room could be found.
Tired Mary and Joseph, who went door to door,
At last found a place on a small stable floor.
For over 200 years, families have gathered on Christmas Eve to hear the much loved words of Dr. Clement C. Moores Twas the Night Before Christmas. This year, families can gather together to share the real Christmas storythe story of Jesus birth. Twas the Evening of Christmas echoes the familiar language and rhythm of Dr. Clements poetry, but instead of focusing on Santa, it focuses on the baby Jesus, who is, after all, the true hero of Christmas. All families will delight in this simple retelling of the most famous story ever told. With a cover that comes alive with foil and sculpted embossing, this book is sure to become a Christmas classic.

AmyL5 Stars Out Of 5Twas the Evening of ChristmasNovember 13, 2017AmyLQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Glenys Nellist has taken the classic rhythm and story of'Twas the Night Before Christmas and given us a wonderful way to share the story of Jesus' birth with our children. In'Twas the Evening of Christmas, your child will be taken on a journey through scripture. Nellist brings the birth of Jesus to life in a way that will make you think you were there too. Just reading the story to myself, I was transported to the stable, with reminders of the noises of the animals and the emotions of the new parents.
With sweet illustrations to help bring the story to life, I know this will be a cherished book we bring out each year at Christmas. I loved the nods in several of the paragraphs back towards the classic poem we all know. Nellist has a way of sharing the story of Jesus seamlessly- getting all the facts in place, and at the same time engaging the imagination.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.

Moore " 'Twas the night Before Christmas", this rendition that tells the Nativity story is going to be a new family tradition. It is great to read and to read aloud to adults and children alike. A nice reminder of what Christmas is really all about. I have purchased one for all the families on my Christmas list-- a gift that will last forever in the traditional reading of this story every Christmas. Frosty5 Stars Out Of 5New Classic Holiday ReadOctober 25, 2017FrostyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am excited about sharing Glenys Nellist's rendition of this well-loved Christmas classic with my family. For years, our family has read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and the Bible's story of Jesus birth during the holidays. This year I want to add this new classic, 'Twas the Evening of Christmas. Glenys did a lovely job rewriting the story to reflect Jesus' birth. Her rhyming is smooth and flows beautifully, the rhythm is consistent with the original story. The colorful illustrations add charm to the story. But, my favorite part of the book is the very end, where we hear sweet words from Mary, Jesus' mother. This would be a sweet book to share on Christmas Eve or morning. I received this free from Zonderkidz.
