This book is an excellent book to cover the history of the the ancient Egyptians burial customs, briefly, and of course, the history of Pharoah Tutankhamen. However, the book is written entirely in the present tense and makes for very difficult reading. Every now and then the author changes to past tense, which is entirely incorrect in writing, even in books for beginner readers.

The book is a Step 4 "Step into reading book", by Random House, but it is a disappointment in language quality, compared to others in the series.

I read the story aloud to my children, and changed the tense to past tense.

If you can read it without being distracted by the language (!!) you will enjoy the content and wonderful pictures. It is a good read aloud for a study on ancient Egypt.

It saddens me that this story is actually wonderfully told for young people, but messed up by poor use of language. There are coloured pictures throughout and some photographs, which will add interest.
