I do not have or struggle with depression, but I chose to read this book to gain a better understanding of depression so that I may improve how I interact with those who do struggle with it.

I felt that the beginning of the book was excellent in how it laid out potential causes of depression and practical action steps that could be take to help people suffering from it. However, later in the book there were some parts that just seemed too technical. Some of these areas about what to eat, what not to eat, and what supplements to take, seemed like they would have been better off in an instruction manual or an appendix verses a chapter in the book. I was also surprised that with a publisher like Waterbrook Multnomah that there was only a very small portion of the book focused on faith.

I still think that this is a good resource for those who need it, but it is not a book for everyone to read.

I received this book through the Blogging for Books program of Waterbrook Multnomah.
