Mama's Corner5 Stars Out Of 5If you have issues with trusting God, this book is wonderful.December 15, 2014Mama's CornerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I wish I could say I didn't have issues with trusting God, but I do. With much abuse in a very unloving home, I have had problems trusting most anyone. It's why I bought this book some 20 years ago. Having said that, it sat on the shelf for 15 of those 20 years, gathering dust. Then as we were moving, it kept coming to the surface of a pile of books. I broke and picked it up. I then went through it and my life has changed and for the better. Jerry Bridges does an incredible job setting the ground work in the opening chapters for those tough later chapters. I've tried both with and without the study guide, and found that a deeper work is done with it. Mr. Bridges brings to light questions that you may not have considered before, which in turn helps you get to the heart of your issues with trusting God. Most every page (if not every page) has multiple scripture citations so that you can further your research and understand why Mr. Bridges has come to the conclusions that he does.
By the end of his book, you will find that your view on Trusting God, will have shifted. Even in the area of those hard issues like abuse, accidents and loss of a loved one. I'm not suggesting that you will have all your issues handle in one read. What I am suggesting is that you will move forward in your relationship with God and be able to trust Him better for those events that come into your life. I'm on my 4th read through and have used it as a bible study tool several times. I've yet to have someone walk away and not say that they feel they are trusting God more even with both there past life events and through new tough things in their lives. And yes, every time I read Trusting God and go through it with a friend, I become closer to God and trust Him more.
What's required of you when reading the book: an honest and open heart. If you're brutally honest with where your at with trusting God and don't play games, you will reap the harvest of that. If you play games and pretend that your trust issues ...well you'll reap that as well. Simply put, the choice is yours.
