"Just trust me." Those are the words we often hear in movies just before something bad happens. And yet, we are told to trust God. In a culture where we tend to take control of our own lives, trusting God has become a religious platitude rather than a life-changing attitude. We say it, but do we really mean it? And what does trusting God really look like?
Sharon, Mary, and Gwenthe Girlfriends in God ministry teamhave been there. Theyve traveled the tough roads of life to discover the peace and power that comes from grabbing the hand of God and trusting his plan. The life stories they share bring laughter and sometimes tears, but always spiritual growth.
Each of the 12-week sections concludes with a Bible study guide and journal page, inviting you to lock arms with Sharon, Mary, and Gwen and share with other women in a small group setting or to use individually in your own quiet time.
"A girlfriend is someone who watches out for you, encourages you, and provides opportunity for you-and that is exactly what you will experience from your Girlfriends in God: Gwen, Sharon, and Mary. They'll show you that living in faith is simple, possible, and attainable If your life is feeling unstable, unsure, unreliable, or the path ahead is unknown, Trusting God will keep you under God's umbrella of tender loving care." - PAM FARREL, relationship specialist, international speaker, and best-selling author of Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti and 10 Best Decisions a Woman Can Make

A quick daily read about trusting to start or end your day. Very light focus on trust but it makes for a quick daily reminder or a nice starting place for a women new to the Christian faith.
The five chapters each week start with a scripture, continue with a short story from one of the three authors, and ends with a prayer. The sixth chapter of the week is a reflection of the week's chapters. It has questions for reflection (or discussion if using with a group) and includes a place for journaling.
Trusting God, A Girlfriendls In God Faith Adventure is applicable and encouraging. From the chapter titled, "Sometimes I Just Don't Get It", Mary Southerland writes, "One day our question marks will be yanked into exclamation points_and we will get it. Until then, we walk by faith and not by sight- trusting God". I also was inspired by the chapter titled "Soul Blinders" that referenced the truth in Deuteronomy 5:32.
Heather KingGloucester, VAAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Like Talking About God with FriendsJanuary 7, 2013Heather KingGloucester, VAAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Reading the devotional, Trusting God: A Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure, by Girlfriends in God writers Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland, is very much like chatting with a circle of close friends or sharing with a small group of women. They are vulnerable, honest, sweet, funny, and full of encouragement and wisdom from what God has been doing in their own lives.
Each devotional is short and grouped into 12 weeks of entries that can be enjoyed as a brief daily devotional for an individual or as a small group. Each "unit" ends with "Now it's your turn," some more reflective application questions about how this all relates to your own life and to Scripture.
I had read another book by Sharon Jaynes before and fell in love with her beautiful writing and emphasis on seeking after God wholeheartedly in the daily things of life. This book was my first experience with Mary Southerland and Gwen Smith and I enjoyed the variety of the offerings, the way they have different experiences, but the same message of trusting God and resting in Him.
If you need personal encouragement and a reminder of God's love each day, this book will help you find stability and strength even in a crazy and sometimes difficult world. If you are looking for a fun and encouraging book for a women's small group, this book could offer great discussion starters and applications to everyday life. It's designed, really, to deepen women's friendships with each other and strengthen their faith. Either way, we are reminded that we can trust God, because He is always trustworthy.

A devotional for women...and a sneak peek before it's even off the presses!" And so began the two night cram session of stuffing twelve weeks worth of devotionals into only a few hours. The setup made for easy perusing as each week includes five devotional readings, alternately written by Jaynes, Smith, and Southerland, that are a page or two (on a rare occasion, three) in length, each ending with a short, contemplative prayer. Each week is concluded on the sixth day of the week by a "Now It's Your Turn" section where Girlfriends in God (GiGs) groups (or individuals with their respective journals) can share their thoughts and reflect on that week's previous thoughts.
Despite my aversion of over girly things, many of the illustrations, quotes, and stories made me not only need a few Kleenex but also gave me cause to do some major introspection on my own ability to trust in God in and through every stituation. (As a very brief side note, the frequent unusual contractions and a few missed punctuations did grate on my grammatical brain as well as a repeat of information in the biographical section that needs deleting, most of which will be complete, I imagine, before the final publishing.) Overall, I rather enjoyed this light devotional book and would recommend to those who like to start off or finish up each day with a Scripturally based thought. Look for the release of "Trusting God" this January.

I chose to use it by myself and really enjoyed it. It didn't last me 12 weeks because so many of the sessions were so good I had to read the next one, and the next one... The authors shared from their lives and their hearts and their personal stories helped heal some struggles I was dealing with at this time! Their honesty, their excellent writing skills, and their personalities were blessings to me.
If you have a group of girlfriends seeking something to study and discuss, I recommend "Trusting God." If you just want some refreshing insight into God's word, I also recommend "Trusting God."
