MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Powerful, Helpful BookSeptember 5, 2019MaryAnnORAge: 55-65Gender: FemaleThis wonderful book is packed with personal stories illustrating God at work in people's lives, including the authors and many others who have dealt with difficult situations as well as some from the Bible. The sixteen chapters cover areas such as marriage, illness, straying family members, and death. Even the foreword and introduction touched me. It's an inspirational book that I will read over and over again. The entire focus is on how God works behind the scenes in our lives and encourages trust in Him. So many quotable passages too. I like this acrostic for GRACE from Peg Campbell:
Gratitude Refuse moaning, anger, and perpetual sadness
(however understandable it may seem) and choose instead
to have a spirit of gratitude.
Relationships Community is one of the ways in which God
infuses grace into our lives and anchors our hearts.
Achievements Trust that He will provide the strength and
grace needed to do whatever is required of you.
Calling God has something purposeful in mind for you in
this situation. What is it that He intends for you to fulfill
that would not be possible if you had not suffered this loss?
Eternal Perspective Keep an eternal focus and orientation each
day of your life here on earth.

ToriU5 Stars Out Of 5Trust GodSeptember 3, 2019ToriUQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Trust. Oh, how often I say I trust God. That He is sovereign, He loves me, and He will cause all things to work together for good. Yet, when a little pressure and uncertainty comes my way, the anxiousness sets in. And then the need to plan, plot, and take control sets in. Then the questions come what is God doing? Does God love me? How is this for my good? And then time and time again, God shows that He is faithful. I'm guessing since seasoned bible teachers like Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Robert Wolgemuth decided to write this book, I'm not the only christian who goes through this.
In this book, Nancy and Robert use their personal stories, their love story, stories in scripture, and stories from their friends to show God's faithfulness. The stories in this book are heart-wrenching, encouraging, and relatable. I like how the book alternates from biblical encounters to personal testimonies. It illustrates that God is unchanging and is always in control.
While I think anyone could glean encouragement and wisdom from this book, I would specifically recommend this book to anyone who is going through any hard times and are wondering where is God in the middle of this hard circumstance? I would recommend this book to anyone who is feeling weary in the race and who needs a push to keep going after the prize.

The characters are introduced, we come to love them, and ... Bam! Calamity. Conflict. Confusion. The waves of time and circumstance act to stand in the way of our hero. Will he succumb to the obstacles in his path? Or will he rise above to find his destiny? We hope, we cheer, and we find ourselves emotionally invested with each turning of the page. And in time, the hero begins to take on a life of his own.
In Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth's newest book, written with her husband Robert Wolgemuth, we are introduced to the ultimate storyteller... God himself. Who is this mastermind that weaves a tale filled with disease and healing, divorce and restoration, waiting and sometimes pain? This book is a woven picture of personal testimonies as well as Biblical stories, all pointing to God's ultimate providence and oversight. And even in the tough situations of life (pain, loss, and death), we are reminded of God's weighty purpose in each moment and our mission to make Him known.
Though Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth is a well known Christian writer, this was my first encounter with her work. Partnered with her husband Robert Wolgemuth, I was reminded again and again that the Lord has purpose in all circumstances, even those that we wish to avoid. With each chapter, I came away both challenged and encouraged. The authors do a wonderful job of sharing testimonies that lift up kingdom principles and call the reader to a higher perspective. This is a book that I can see myself returning to again and again in the future.
