Product Description

Christians have the love of God, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the promise of eternal life---so where's the joy? Living in a culture of "solo efforts" has robbed us of our collective cheerfulness, says Dawn, who helps us get it back by examining Romans 12. Gladness is the church's heritage. Let's claim it! 303 pages, softcover from Eerdmans.

Publisher's Description

Many writers have decried the lack of intimacy and community in our contemporary culture. Few of them, however, provide a fully biblical description of community or give specific methods for its recovery. Through an intensive study of Romans 12, Marva Dawn here offers precisely this kind of practical guidance for building vital Christian community life. Originally published as The Hilarity of Community, this volume continues to be one of the best sources for understanding what it means to live together as the church of Christ.

A very good book for those in Christian communities seeking to move out beyond the usual ministries and discover God's will for those involved. Marva's rich examples and experiences provide much for folks to discuss as well as to implement.
