Series: Bradford Sisters Romance
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

Becky Wade has a new series involving the three Bradford Sisters: Willow, Nora, and Britt. True to You is the first story in the series and tells the story of Nora, a research librarian who is the typical middle sister who feels plain and unnoticed. Her life revolves around British literature as well as her favorite classical English drama on television. When she and Britt volunteer to be pretend hostages for a training event, she comes face-to-face with a man who is above and beyond any of her fictional fantasies. John is a former Navy Seal who was adopted as an infant. He has been diagnosed with an inherited medical condition that causes him to want to search for his birth parents. Nora is the perfect person to help him. Yet as a private person, he doesn't want to share his reasons for his search, nor does he understand how someone like Nora can affect his emotions so deeply. She loves history, fictional stories, and tea. Nora's first love is books and helping others find people. She loves this new challenge and finds herself falling for John, even though she knows he has a girlfriend. She has been hurt before and considers herself too ordinary for someone as important as John.
I love the complexity of the characters in this novel. Becky Wade has set the stage for all three sisters by giving a glimpse of what's to come in their lives. I can understand the feelings of both Nora and John, and how they are afraid to share too much of their heart with another person because of not having a traditional home life. Although not personally familiar with adoption, the insecurities of John who was given up at birth is so believable. There is the relationship between the sisters that is easy for me to relate to, especially as the middle sister. And then the author shows how difficult it would be to receive a life changing medical diagnosis, and the struggles John went through dealing with how to accept it. I can't wait for the next novel in the series and immerse myself in the Bradford Sisters life again! Thank you Bethany House for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
a walk through the pages4 Stars Out Of 5True To YouMay 22, 2017a walk through the pagesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Becky Wade has completed the first book, True to You, of her Bradford Sisters Romance series. The tale opens with Nora Bradford attending an emergency situation training session with her sister, Britt. The session seems to be ending when a tall, muscular man, dressed in black, picks Nora up and carries her, over his shoulder, out of the room. Nora is surprise when she learns that this man is actually a former Navy Seal, who left his Seal team with honors!
John Lawson did indeed leave the military with honors; however, he has a dire need to contact his birth parents to learn about his family's health history. John has been experiencing symptoms that indicate that he may be losing his eyesight! When John learns that Nora is a professional researcher, he knows he has found the person who will help him find his birth mother!
This tell gets very interesting as John and Nora dive in to the process of locating his mother's whereabouts. You will be surprised to learn the details that are revealed by the end of this tale. By the end of this tail, you will see God at work in both of John and Nora's lives!

Carolyn A5 Stars Out Of 5Best in the Genre That I've Read This YearMay 22, 2017Carolyn AQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0True to You solidified Becky Wade's spot as my favorite contemporary Christian romance author. There's so much to love about this unlikely pairing of former Navy SEAL John Lawson and bookish Nora Bradford.
To her credit, Becky Wade takes two wealthy, extremely accomplished individuals, reveals their flaws, and makes them sympathetic and relatable. And then she makes them smart and straightforward, avoiding cheap tactics such as cliched misunderstandings and instead demonstrating how people with real character behave, in spite of their fears and insecurities.
Despite a scene or two that had me near tears, the novel includes levity, delivered mainly by Nora's internal thoughts and her cantankerous grandmother. From wry one-liners like, "She valued proper nomenclature," to ridiculous dialogue like, "Gotta love cabbage," there is plenty to make you smile.
There is wisdom, too, about the beauty of life in all its imperfection, living in the here and now, and discovering the truth of our identities and our self-worth.
If you enjoyed the prequel novella Then Came You, you'll be pleased to know True to You includes more of the epistolary style with each chapter, including text messages and beautifully-written, heart-warming personal letters.
The writing is smooth and crisp, and the book hard to put down. "Sweet and clean" best describes the romance, but with enough physical attraction to keep things real. And, to my surprise, a dramatic twist added an unexpected complication and depth to the story. (Can't say any more. Sorry.)
The stage has been set for Nora's sisters' romances with each of the heroes enjoying minor roles in True to You. (One you may recognize from the Porter Family series.) I'm looking forward to revisiting John and Nora as their romance progresses and they continue to work through the coming challenges they'll face. (Look at me, talking about them like they're real people! That's what a good book will do.)
ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5You will not be disappointed!May 20, 2017ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Have you ever felt like youre life has stalled? Or that your foundation had been knocked right out from under your feet? Well thats exactly what the characters in Becky Wades latest novel feel like! (And I dont blame them one bit.) This sweetly flowing novel introduces us to the middle Bradford sister, Nora, and former Navy SEAL John Lawson. With a cast of secondary characters that provide levity to a story that has tendency to be more serious, Becky Wade writes another hit. (Really, I cant wait to delve further into the Bradford sisters lives!)
Nora is a woman after my own heart. She is sweet, quirky, and charming. Her love for life, her family, and the Lord is evident in everything she does and says. Shes a fixer. John Lawson couldnt be more Noras opposite. As a former Navy SEAL, he is strong, quiet, and confident. What I love most about these characters, though, is that Becky Wade brought out their flaws and imperfections almost immediately. As they begin to get to know one another and fight their attraction, I could see the struggles they faced both internally and externally.
What I also love most about this novel is how REAL Becky Wade makes their struggle. I can relate to every feeling, good and bad, these characters face as they come to terms with what God is doing in their lives. It makes the story 10 times more believable. And let me tell you, that curveball Becky Wade throws at you at the end I didnt see that coming! Overall, I love Becky Wade. I love her writing style. Her characters and stories are always on point. I promise, Becky Wade fans will not be disappointed by True to You.
