Series: Bradford Sisters Romance
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.
Jolene4 Stars Out Of 5True to YouMay 23, 2017JoleneQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Nora Bradford is proud of her success as a historical village owner, enjoys her work at the library museum, and is seriously in-love with her favorite tv show. If those things don't occupy her time sufficiently, she has books, Facebook, and her smart phone to help her avoid certain emotions and circumstances. Then John Lawson enters her life, needing help to find his birth mother. Nora's focus shifts to John's search and ultimately to the man, himself. As the pair traces John's ancestry, they grow closer until an unexpected and dark truth from the past clouds their relationship. Will they rise above the past and find light after darkness? True to You is the first full-length novel in Becky Wade's Bradford Sisters Romance Series. The prequel, Then Came You, complements the storyline, but is not essential to True to You. I thoroughly enjoyed Nora's character development. In the beginning, I didn't really like her and stuck with the story because the ancestry search was interesting. However, by the middle of the book, I was cheering for her and staying up much too late so I could finish just one more chapter. And then came the unveiling of past secrets. Wow. I absolutely adore how the author carried both John and Nora through that. I can't say more without giving a spoiler, but it was excellent.
I would rate True to You as a PG-13 book. There's some innuendo by one of Nora's co-workers that really wasn't necessary and I wouldn't want my young child absorbing. For older teens and adults, the story is entertaining and the message of redemption is lovely.

BookLoverGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5What can I say? I loved it!!May 23, 2017BookLoverGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've been a huge fan of Becky Wade's books since reading "My Stubborn Heart" and have been anxiously anticipating this new series. I've yet to find a book of hers that I didn't just fall in love with and this one is certainly no exception! From the opening line, which is quite possibly my new favorite, to the final page I was smiling and sighing and grabbing every spare moment to read even just a sentence or two. Though I was very sad to see her Porter series end, I have to say that this book is an excellent start to a new series and I loved getting to know the Bradford sisters!
Ms. Wade's writing is excellent, as always! I love her way with words and particularly enjoyed the unique ones she found for Nora. I definitely enjoyed the mystery and search for answers and I loved the sister dynamic! These ladies had me laughing SO much! I'm positive I was getting a few odd looks, but I just couldn't resist! I loved how they step in and out of each others lives, causing trouble, or lending sisterly support with a few wisecracks thrown in! While this is mostly Nora and John's book, I felt I got to know Brit and Willow pretty well and am so excited for the next book! (I'm thinking it might be Willow's!) And for those who are fans of Ms. Wade's Porter series, there's a name in this one that you might recognize!
I also have to gush over Nora Bradford. She's a lady after my own heart - a librarian/genealogist, who lives in the "Book Cottage" and loves all things historical. She's such a sweet lady, but with a stubborn streak to rival John's, and a heart that's been broken and is now hiding. I loved getting to know this strong/stubborn/lovely lady and gushing over "The Navy SEAL" with her!
And John Lawson is fine! Goodness! I definitely needed a fan for this one. Ms. Wade always has the best heroes! Hands-down, her books are on the top of the list for my very favorite romance and a lot of it is her guys and John is on the list for possibly being my favorite to date - the jury's still out on that one. I may have to give her other books another read through before I could make a decision of such importance. But I definitely loved him! He's almost the opposite of Nora, with her comfortable space, not overly adventurous nature, and British TV shows. Whereas he's kayaking, and diving, and all the Navy SEAL stuff, and teaching emergency preparedness. But it totally worked. And my heart broke for him, for his journey and the hard things he faced. This is one of those books that pulled me in so thoroughly that I had to stop and remember that these are fictional people. I can't text and ask how John is doing, or stop in at Brit's and have an amazing chocolate, or call Willow for a make-over. But I wanted to! And their romance is so sweet, but also has plenty of spark (cue the fan). There were so many great lines that I had to save for gushing and sighing and general swooning.
Overall, I absolutely adored this book and I'm sure I'll be reading it again very soon, whilst I anxiously await the next book!
My thanks to the author and publisher for my copy of this book! I was not required to write a review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
lilacqueen755 Stars Out Of 5Charming and sweet, even with heavy subject matterMay 23, 2017lilacqueen75Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5There's something so deliciously perfect about an opposites attracting story. John is a slightly tortured Navy SEAL, who is set on discovering secrets of his past. Nora is a very old-fashioned, vintage librarian who thrives on genealogy. This story completely captured my heart, hard subject matters and all.
I absolutely adored Nora and her sisters. I have two sisters and there's such a special bond and relationship they all share and it makes me miss my sisters. I can't wait to read their stories and dig into more of this family's lives. The importance of family is prevalent in these pages.
John's quest is a tug on the heart, but I thoroughly enjoyed the way this story came together, especially the gradual way the friendship and romance develops. I love the way John and Nora incorporate their strengths and faith into the story and come to fully rely on God to do so. As I mentioned before, I can't wait for more in this series!
Content: moderate+ religious elements; mild romance; talk of abuse/rape, nothing to graphic.

Becky Wade has a new series involving the three Bradford Sisters: Willow, Nora, and Britt. True to You is the first story in the series and tells the story of Nora, a research librarian who is the typical middle sister who feels plain and unnoticed. Her life revolves around British literature as well as her favorite classical English drama on television. When she and Britt volunteer to be pretend hostages for a training event, she comes face-to-face with a man who is above and beyond any of her fictional fantasies. John is a former Navy Seal who was adopted as an infant. He has been diagnosed with an inherited medical condition that causes him to want to search for his birth parents. Nora is the perfect person to help him. Yet as a private person, he doesn't want to share his reasons for his search, nor does he understand how someone like Nora can affect his emotions so deeply. She loves history, fictional stories, and tea. Nora's first love is books and helping others find people. She loves this new challenge and finds herself falling for John, even though she knows he has a girlfriend. She has been hurt before and considers herself too ordinary for someone as important as John.
I love the complexity of the characters in this novel. Becky Wade has set the stage for all three sisters by giving a glimpse of what's to come in their lives. I can understand the feelings of both Nora and John, and how they are afraid to share too much of their heart with another person because of not having a traditional home life. Although not personally familiar with adoption, the insecurities of John who was given up at birth is so believable. There is the relationship between the sisters that is easy for me to relate to, especially as the middle sister. And then the author shows how difficult it would be to receive a life changing medical diagnosis, and the struggles John went through dealing with how to accept it. I can't wait for the next novel in the series and immerse myself in the Bradford Sisters life again! Thank you Bethany House for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
a walk through the pages4 Stars Out Of 5True To YouMay 22, 2017a walk through the pagesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Becky Wade has completed the first book, True to You, of her Bradford Sisters Romance series. The tale opens with Nora Bradford attending an emergency situation training session with her sister, Britt. The session seems to be ending when a tall, muscular man, dressed in black, picks Nora up and carries her, over his shoulder, out of the room. Nora is surprise when she learns that this man is actually a former Navy Seal, who left his Seal team with honors!
John Lawson did indeed leave the military with honors; however, he has a dire need to contact his birth parents to learn about his family's health history. John has been experiencing symptoms that indicate that he may be losing his eyesight! When John learns that Nora is a professional researcher, he knows he has found the person who will help him find his birth mother!
This tell gets very interesting as John and Nora dive in to the process of locating his mother's whereabouts. You will be surprised to learn the details that are revealed by the end of this tale. By the end of this tail, you will see God at work in both of John and Nora's lives!
