Colonel Frank Payton has captured the compelling story of God's blessing on the mission and ministry of The Salvation Army to Spanish-speaking people in the United States and Puerto Rico. By publishing ¡Triunfarán! we honor those faithful servants of the Lord who have devoted their lives to this work. Their valiant efforts have borne much fruit for the Kingdom. Today, the Army's Hispanic ministry is a vibrant expression of Salvationism. May this historical account of the Army's growth inspire us all to seek new places and new ways to spread the Gospel! ¡Adelante, pués, Ejército de Salvación! -Commissioner William A. Bamford III Territorial Commander, USA Eastern Territory
Colonel Frank Payton is a fourth-generation Salvationist whose grandmother was commissioned as an officer by William Booth in 1882. Frank's parents were also officers. After his own commissioning in 1953, Frank served in several appointments in Western Pennsylvania. In 1958, he married the newly commissioned Yvonne Guldenschuh, a third-generation Salvationist, and they began 40 years of service together with their first appointment in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Frank and Yvonne served in Puerto Rico, Mexico City, and Kingston, Jamaica, and for a few years in New York City and Paterson, New Jersey. Their final appointment was back in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as territorial leaders of the South America East Territory.
