The quiet community of Newpointe, reeling from the shock of the dead mans identity, struggles with the agonizing question: who did itand why? Paramedic Issie Mattreaux is no icon of virtue, but she cares enough about her teenage nephew, Jake, to track him down when he turns up missing. Only, what she finds is far more than a harmless bonfire on the outskirts of town. After a chilling attempt on Issies life, Nick takes on the role of protector even as he struggles with the tragedy that has struck his church. Whoever is behind the fire is far from finished. Lisa5 Stars Out Of 5October 24, 2006LisaFantastic book. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.
Gail5 Stars Out Of 5August 22, 2003GailWow! What a great book! I love how Terri Blackstock combines romance and suspense to make marvelous books! Most books I read that have a romance/suspense combination put too much emphasis on one or the other, and the book isn't that great. But Terri always manages to have the perfect balance of both. I think TRIAL BY FIRE was one of the best books in the series. I must admit, I was pretty shocked she put Issie and Nick together, but in the end I was convinced they were the perfect couple! I'd definitely buy this book because you'll want to read it over and over. I know I have!
Debbie5 Stars Out Of 5December 5, 2001DebbieExcellent book, but then all of Terri Blackstock's books that I've read are!! I am always anxious for her next one!! Keep them comingTerri!!
Terri5 Stars Out Of 5February 10, 2001TerriPlease do not have this book be the conclusion of this series....I loved it. My only complaint is I do no have a book 5 to continue reading about the trials and tribulations of the folk in Newpointe. I especially enjoy the chararcter of Nick. I would love to see him have to face and deal with ghosts from Issie's past...as we all must confront them from time to time. Please do another!!!
Dr. David W. Parker5 Stars Out Of 5December 24, 2000Dr. David W. ParkerI received this book in the mail. This is one of the best books I have read. It is a page turner. I was glad I picked it up to read on my day off. I could not lay it down. I am glad it deals with real people and not a utopian society. Blackstock illustrates how God's grace is extended to all. I'm glad I read this book and will encourgage my congregation to do the same.
