God in the Trenches: A History of How God Defends Freedom When America Is at War

God & Country Press / 2010 / Paperback

Stock No: WW570204

Product Description

Larkin Spivey believes that God is on America's side, backing up his thesis with historical evidence: a phantom attack that caused George Washington to win a decisive battle; "random" events in the Pacific that gave a small American fleet victory; and a U-2 spy plane and the dead pilot that saved the world from a nuclear holocaust.

Putting forth the idea that God's providential hand intervened at critical junctures during America's wars-and that Freedom is important to the Almighty-Spivey shows how miraculous events kept fate going America's way. Miracles or mysteries, Spivey does not doubt that history has been swayed many times by a hidden hand, but will providence help America once again? 224 pages, softcover.

Publisher's Description

Is God on America's side?  Is it possible a providential hand intervened at  critical junctures during America's wars?  Is freedom important to the Almighty?  Larkin Spivey, a decorated Marine Corps officer and respected military professor, believes so.

In God in the Trenches, Spivey shows that when the nation's survival seemed uncertain, even doubtful, fate seemed to turn America's way, giving way to mysterious—if not miraculous—events.  These events altered the course of history, leading to victory for the American military and enduring freedom for America's citizens.

Whether these events were miracles , or just plain mysteries, Spivey leaves no doubt that the history of the United States was swayed many times by a hidden hand.  Will the hand of providence help America once again?
