Over the course of a century, Training for Service has equipped over one million volunteers with this basic course and certification for Bible teaching. This new revision retains all the features listed above and also gives access to www.trainingforservice.com, which:
• Gives the leader access to every reproducible included in the Leader Guide in a larger format.
• Allows the leader to create a full-color, fully personalized completion certificate for each graduate.
• Posts names of every graduate of the course submitted by the leader month by month.
• And contains many more helpful features!
HERBERT MONINGER wrote the original Training for Service in 1907, summarizing the content of his popular teacher-training seminars.
CECIL JAMES (C. J.) SHARP, minister and high school principal, revised Moningers work in 1934.
ORRIN ROOT, a former editor at Standard Publishing, revised the book in the 1960s, reducing the original 40-lesson format to the current 26 sessions.
ELEANOR DANIEL, seminary professor and Christian education expert, revised the book in the 1980s.
JIM EICHENBERGER, a former schoolteacher and principal, and currently a writer and editor at Standard Publishing, authored this revision.
Janet Howell3 Stars Out Of 5Content vs. PackagingJuly 29, 2015Janet HowellQuality: 3Value: 4Meets Expectations: 2I have taught the revision done by Orrin Root and Eleanor Daniel for 15 years. The cover of the book and the font were very ordinary. I can understand why the packaging and formatting would be freshened up. But I am SAD, very sad that the content has been tampered with. It was the most successful, fruitful and exciting Bible curriculum I have ever had the privilege to teach. Every class grew greatly in number and I usually had to reorder more books for people who wanted extra copies to give to others. The students enjoyed learning the material and eagerly memorized and studied for the optional tests. Overwhelmingly, they communicated how much they had learned and grown through this study. I am planning to teach this class again in January 2016, Lord willing, and I'm very upset that I cannot use the previous revision. New and improved is not always improved at all. Still valuable, but an inferior revision.
Battle4 Stars Out Of 5Original vs PresentNovember 24, 2014BattleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I used the original over 20 years ago and believe that it was more challenging than this book in respect to the tests, however, this book offers a bit more historical information than the original did. Over all an excellent guide.
PS: Use to the old book but will use the new.

I do prefer the testing in the original book much better than the multiple choice tests that are offered now. I believe we don't place a high enough standard/expectation on our students of the Word and this move to an easier test format validates that. I still have the old curriculum and will continue to use the test from it.
