Tell us a little about yourself. I am lead pastor at Northgate Community Church and serve as principal of Living Grace Christian School, a kindergarten through twelfth grade school and a ministry of Northgate Community Church. I have been married to my wife Silvia for twenty-five years and we have four children.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to learn what the Bible teaches about raising up children, both for me as a parent and as a principal of a Christian school.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope parents will receive clarity about what the Bible teaches about training our children. Particularly, I hope parents will be encouraged to raise up champions for the Lord who will be servant leaders for Him in their generation.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Working on the book helped me to receive Biblical clarity about the disciplinary process in working with parents and children. In addition, it helped me to understand that training our children is not simply about discipline but also very much about our relationship with our children.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Important influences in my life our my parents Thurlow and Lynda Switzer, my wife Silvia, my grandparents, Michael and David Rudolph, and my colaborers in the church and the school.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I hope the book encourages you as parents in your most important calling: to raise up your children to be champions for the Lord.
