Ellis3 Stars Out Of 5Trails & TargetsJune 28, 2016EllisQuality: 3Value: 0Meets Expectations: 3The beginning of this book started off rough and took me a while to understand what was going on...... Also the reasoning behind my rating was the swearing...... I buy christian books because of the good morals and writing they hold and was very shocked to see this in this type of book.... Very disappointed!
Teri5 Stars Out Of 5Didn't Disappoint - fun readJanuary 5, 2016TeriQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Imagine being able to stand strong and united as families had to in order to survive. Bea is a woman of strength and character which seemed almost too good to be true. Her resolve to stick with her family was inspiring. The other sisters were just as unique in character and resolve to stand as a family. The way they all looked after each other and their ill father was very endearing given today's culture. They showed so much respect to those around them in spite of how others treated them. The characters in this story were very believable and the Scriptures they reflected on showed how flawed they felt as they worked to overcome setbacks and hardships. Pa was a fierce protector of his daughters but, with his failing health, found it difficult to do. Thankfully Grey and Miles came along at a time when they were most needed. With the addition of an arrogant villain this tale becomes more intriguing. I'm anxious to get the next book in this series since it continues with the "showdown" from the next daughter's perspective.

Beatrix Darlyn is in the Dakota Territory with her 3 sisters, Ariel, Cassia and Judith, and their father. Each of them has skills that are not normally considered skills young women have. Beatrix is a remarkable markswoman. Ariel is an archer. Cassia is knife thrower. Judith is a trick rider and roper. There skills have been kept underwraps until now. Their fathers health is failing and he wants the men in the area to know that his daughters are able to protect themselves so he invites the men of the town out to the family farm on Sunday afternoon to see his girls in action. The event doesnt turn out like Seamus Darlyn planned.
In this entertaining book we watch the Darlyn Sisters and their father as they deal with their outcast status and the unscrupulous banker in TallGrass with the help of two bone-pickers, Greyson Wilder and Miles OConall. Beatrix and Greyson must learn to work together while they both try to guard their hearts. The men are as determined as the women to save the Darlyn farm Their strength and intelligence are called upon to reach their goal.
In the end success does not look exactly like they thought it would.
Kelly Eileen Hake has again given the reader a delightful trip to the Old West. This book is full of believable characters. The plot is lively and engaging. It leaves you eagerly waiting for the second volume in the series to come out.
I was provided a copy of this book through The Book Club Network for my unbiased review.

The Darlyn family is great. I look forward to reading the sisters stories. They need to open up a Wild West show of their own and show what women can do. I enjoyed the romance between Grason and Beatrix. It was nice to see how these characters developed during the story. I received this book from book fun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
jacquiRIllinoisAge: Over 65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Trails & TargetsMarch 1, 2015jacquiRIllinoisAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Trails & Targets by Kelly Eilleen Hake is a light-hearted, enjoyable novel. Set in the Dakota Territory in 1889, this Western tale is the first book in the Dangerous Darlyns series with Slings & Arrows and Fire & Knives to follow, continuing the story of the Darlyn Family. This farm family, living in North Dakota, consists of the father and his four talented and skilled daughters. Bea, the oldest, is a sharpshooter, and her sisters possess equally amazing skills. When their path crosses two decent, law-abiding drifters, who believe that women should be respected and protected, all of their lives change. Add in the town villain, a banker, who has most of the town intimidated with the exception of the Darlyn Family and the two newcomers, and a highly interesting read awaits. I highly recommend this book, if someone likes a good Western tale. I received this book through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.
