Donna portrays Jesus Christ of the New Testament and accurately reveals him in stories of the Old Testament where he is concealed. She brings this to light in a way that is not only exciting and real but shows us the privilege we have to apply his truth to our lives and the situations we face daily. Her testimonies of how she has walked this out are amazingly applicable to each of us. I’m very excited to begin Tracing His Promise in our own church groups to enable us to walk more like Christ, by his Spirit. A must-read for those seeking to know him more.
Tracing His Promise is a powerful, biblically grounded study that reveals profound connections between Old Testament Scripture and the coming Messiah who was born in Bethlehem and is undeniably Jesus. Throughout the study, Amidon illuminates for the reader the significance of events, prophecies, and people of Old Testament times, and not only how they connect directly to Jesus's birth, but also how Jesus was present from the beginning of it all. Amidon engages readers through thought-provoking questions, impactful illustrations, and deep insight. She invites families to incorporate the Jesse Tree into their Christmas traditions and provides creative ideas and downloadable ornaments to help them assemble their own Jesse Tree. Amidon's passion is evident at every turn of the page, while she helps her readers make golden-nugget connections hidden in plain sight. This study is unique and impactful! Don't miss it!
What I loved about this book is the way Donna helped me see Jesus in an even bigger way. I am grateful that Donna wrote Tracing His Promise, which is a book that can help anyone deepen their understanding of the Bible. This book beautifully uncovers the presence and person of Jesus Christ in both the Old and New Testaments, guiding readers to encounter our Savior in a profound and intimate way. Whether you are a new Christian or a mature believer in Christ, Tracing His Promise can be a valuable resource to help you grow in your knowledge of Scripture and develop greater intimacy and consistency in your walk with Jesus.
The Bible is a story of God's creation, our rebellion, and God's decision to send his Son, Jesus, into the world to restore his world to original intent. The prophecies throughout the Old Testament predict Jesus's first coming. That’s what Donna has captured here in this book. Her book shows not only the astounding unity of God's Word but also the Father's deep and abiding love for us through Jesus. I pray the church, Jesus's bride, can use it to experience God's eternal love in greater depth.
Tracing His Promise is thoughtful and in-depth about who Jesus is--from the beginning of creation to the cradle to the grave--and how we experience life with him today. It also includes an interactive way to share these truths with your kids and grandkids by making Christmas ornaments. I'm so thankful Donna Amidon took the time to define the bigger story of Jesus for us and included thoughtful ways to share his story!
