Trace of Doubt is a can't-miss story from one of the most well-known Christian suspense authors out there. DiAnn Mills has definitely not lost her creative edge, even after writing so many books! Shelby's story as an ex-con is a unique take on the suspense genre. Her strength, street smarts, and reliance on her faith make her a fascinating, compelling, heroine. The threats on her life after being released from prison become more sinister throughout the book, giving the story a psychological thriller feel. The twists and turns in this fast-paced story will keep you turning pages long into the night!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book would make a great movie. It is action packed, full of forgiveness, second chances, finding the truth, mystery and so much more.

Shelby Pearce is just looking for a quiet place to start over, but when trouble seems to stalk her should she trust the agent who lied to her? Denton McClure is out to prove Shelby is guilty. But is there more to the story?

I always enjoy books by DiAnn Mills. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.

Shelby is ready to start a new life. Although there is bound to be a certain amount of trepidation after fifteen years in prison, she has a lot going for her and wants to move forward. Before she even arrives at the cabin she has rented, someone is already trying to scare her away. Then there is Denton who was involved in bringing her to justice for murder but still believes she embezzled a large sum of money as well. Fortunately, some wonderful, loving people in Valleysburg want to see her succeed at her new life. As the plot thickens, Shelby constantly relies on her faith to get her through. I enjoyed how the author had a good mix of people of faith and those who were unbelievers. Some of the unbelievers treated Shelby far better than certain believers. The story took many twists and turns as Shelby is threatened, accosted, bullied, and shunned by family members. Even after deciding to force the responsible party out into the open, it seemed the person was always one step ahead of her, always knew where she was and how to get to her. We always expect the hero and heroine to figure things out, but she was dogged at every step and the outcome was questionable almost from the beginning.

FBI agent Denton McClure has been obsessed with Shelby Pearce for fifteen years. That's how long she had been in prison for the death of her sister's husband.

At the time of his death $500,000 disappeared from his charity group for orphans. Dentin is positive Shelby took it and has it hidden someplace.

He is so certain of this that he moved in as her neighbor. He thought he was good with undercover detail, but Shelby is not stupid. She eventually called him out.

Shelby's life was in danger and she was tired of it. She decided she needed to go undercover herself in order to get the real killer exposed. Of course, she managed to put herself in even more danger.

It didn't take me long to have a suspect in mind. It did take me much longer to figure out the thief.

There were lots of twists and turns in this book. Enough that you might find yourself sitting on the edge of your chair.

Thank you, Ms Mills. This is only the second book of yours that I've read, but am looking forward to many more.

Loved this style of writing. It really showed the depth of the characters; their thoughts, emotions, and especially how the past is revealed and explained as the story is unraveled. DiAnn Mills always does a great job with details and backstory but the way she wrote of the characters was so intimate and real. Of course the intrigue and action was top notch once again. The plot twists and suspense are riveting until the very end. Add romance, faith and redemption and you have a great read. I am a fan of DiAnn's writing and this does not disappoint. A page turner for sure. I received a review copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
