Publisher's Description

Cowboys, Action, Humor, and History Collide in Connealy's Latest

When an explosion kills men and damages the CR Mining Company, the Bodens realize their troubles are not behind them as they thought. Shadowy forces are still working against them.

Cole Boden finds himself caught between missing his time back East and all that New Mexico offers. Sure he fights with his siblings now and then, but he does care for them. He enjoys running the mine and, when he's honest, he admits that Melanie Blake captures his interest in a way no other woman ever has.

Melanie has been a friend to the Bodens forever. A cowgirl who is more comfortable with horses and lassoes than people, she never expected to find herself falling for someone. Particularly for refined Cole Boden, a Harvard graduate who may not stay long at the ranch. She's determined, however, to help the Bodens finally put an end to the danger that's threatened all of them. But will putting herself in harm's way be more dangerous than anyone expected?

"An explosion brought Cole Boden to his feet." And with that desperate opening line we're off to the races in the action-packed, comedy-laced grand finale to the Cimmarron Legacy series. The Bodens are a larger than life family and conjure up images of vintage TV Westerns like the Cartwright family (Bonanza) and the Barkley clan (Big Valley.) You don't need to read the first two books in order to enjoy this one, though if you enjoy a good classic Western you'll want to read them all!

Connealy knows how to pair danger and mayhem with wise-cracking humour. Mel and Cole are a hoot! Both equally tough and stubborn and noble of heart....and uncomfortably attracted to each other. Something that takes them by surprise and must be sorted out amidst flying bullets and ominous explosions. They are besieged by a host of ornery villains with a wicked sense of justice and a determination to wipe the Bodens off the face of the earth.

Breathlessly intense with a blockbuster style ending that will bring you to your feet as you clap and cheer (and catcall whistle in the appropriate spots.) Awesomesauce all around.

This is book three in the series and I thought an excellent conclusion. It can stand alone but is also nice if you have read the other 2, which by the way I recommend. There is love, suspense, and I find that Mary has a way of painting her characters that make them seem legit. This book involves a family legacy at stake. There are snakes around trying to move in and kill off the offspring to take over the valuable land. The parts about the gold mines really make you feel and smell and experience the mines in a believable way. The family togetherness was tender and what everyone longs for his or her family to be like, there for each other and fighting the battle shoulder to shoulder.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Too Far Down, by Mary Connealy, is the third book in the Cimarron Legacy series. It follows No Way Up and Long Time Gone. This amazing conclusion tells Cole Bodens role in the story and reveals the criminal causing the troubles throughout the trilogy.

Cole Boden, though torn between missing his life in the east and his love of life in the west, takes pride in running the CR Mining Company on the family ranch. So, when an explosion kills several men and unravels threads of information leading back to other attacks on his family, he takes it personally. Working with his family and neighbors, he hopes to track down the murderer responsible for everything. But Melanie Blake, while admittedly great help, also becomes very distracting. When all of their lives are threatened, Cole must make choices he never imagined.

I enjoyed both this book and the entire series. The Boden family comes across as real and endearing. I especially like the way Cole takes responsibility for his family and their safety. I especially loved Uncle Walt and wished I knew more about him.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction or western novels.

First, I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to Mary Connealy and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Too Far Down" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

Too Far Down by Mary Connealy is the adventurous third book in the Cimarron Legacy series that literally begins with a bang! Harvard graduate, Cole Boden has returned home to run the CR mine in New Mexico. When an explosion rocks the mine, the Bodens childhood friend, Melanie Blake, is one of the first people on the scene to offer aid.

What follows is an exciting, plot-twisty, humorous romantic adventure that leaves the reader out of breath and completely entertained! This is a wonderfully suspenseful read. Following the Bodens investigation of the explosion and the mystery of who is targeting the Boden family and the mine is like riding a roller coaster.

All of Mary Connealys novels are expertly crafted with humor and detailed research that make her stories enjoyable and believable. They are always clean entertainment that I can recommend to my Christian friends without reservation.

I enjoyed finally getting to read Cole and Melanie's story. I love the tough girl persona of cowgirl Melanie, feeling like she can't show how anything affects her, having to keep up with the men she lives and works with, loving her home and work and yet starting to wish for more. Cole is also an interesting character, having grown up in the east and living in the west, yet always planning to return to the city. He can easily survive in either environment, yet does he truly belong to either one?

The one piece that started to annoy me in the last book and really put me off here is the parents story. I. Don't. Care. I would have taken those sections out and just had the characters on the ranch briefly discuss every so often how they were doing or mention a letter or something. Other than that, this is another fun western story that I highly recommend. I would, however, strongly recommend that you start at the beginning of the series because there is a lot going on that carries on from one book to another. There's always a portion that wraps up so there is some closure each time and the series doesn't feel like one giant book.
