CarolMAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5April 18, 2011CarolMAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is not the first book in the series, but the first that I read. I had no problems having not read the others.
Pretty, spunky heroine. Handsome hero. Younger siblings in need of guidance.
Harriet and Lawrence are afraid for the ones they love. Past experiences have made them cautious - overly so at times - in order to protect their loved ones and their hearts.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The romance was sweet. The characters were real. My heart both ached and rejoiced as I read. Tears filled my eyes more than once.
I would give this book closer to 4.5 stars if that were an option but I reserve 5 stars for exceptionally few books.
An influencer copy of this book was supplied to me by the publisher. This opinion is my own.
AbbieTexasAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Story of a New LifeApril 17, 2011AbbieTexasAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5The journey of Harriet Kirk is one that pulls at a person's heart strings. Forced to take on adult responsibilities at a very young age and burdened with the responsibility to keep up appearences in the small town of fortune Harriet does not get the joy of just being a child. In this story the reader is invited to travel a road of survival and ultimate healing as Harriet takes her siblings to the town of Ladreville. This is the 3rd book in the Texas Dreams series but can easily be read as a stand alone. In this we see the continued stories of characters that we were introduced to in the earlier books as well as the new Kirk family. Harriet is strong-willed, determined and goal oriented when she moves to Ladreville. Her goals are centered on making a new start for her siblings so that they each have a chance to flourish outside of the shadow of gossip from their previous town or the burden of trying to keep up appearences of the Kirk family name. Never did she consider that this move would lead her into a new life of her own - a life where she is asked to face the past and let go in order to experience a love of her own. This story is wonderfully moving.

Kathy Cretsinger5 Stars Out Of 5Best Book by Amanda CabotApril 13, 2011Kathy CretsingerQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After reading the other two books in The Texas Dreams Series, I will have to say I enjoyed this one very much. The writing was excellent and the subject matter new and different. A school teacher caring for her five siblings was so different from single school teachers. Harriet Kirk was an interesting character and one Amanda created very well. I had not liked Lawrence Wood in the last book, but this one changed my opinion of him. He was portrayed as a very caring person. To me, the book addressed dealing with our fears. It was presented very well. Good job Amanda!
BobbiePennsylvaniaAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5As good as an old John Wayne movie!April 7, 2011BobbiePennsylvaniaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This western romance reminded me of the old John Wayne westerns - bigger than life! It has everything a romance novel should, including a handsome hero, a beautiful heroine and many interesting support cast members. It has heart-rending problems and dangers for the characters to encounter and overcomem. And, of course, it includes the courting with the excitement and the heartbreak of falling in love. This was the third in a trilogy and I had already read the first in the series. I wish I had read the second before reading this book, although it will stand alone. It makes you curious to know the backstory so I guess if you read this one first you will go back and read Paper Roses and the second in the series too!
