Terminal cancer patient, Lawrence Knorr decided to make every day for the rest of his life the best of his life. He and his wife Linda read Today is Your Best Day each day six times through. They were so encouraged by the book they shared it with over 400 families before Jim left this world for heaven. In the foreword of this printing, Linda asks that we honor Jim by sharing this book and letting God use each of us to enrich the lives of others. Devotional Thoughts By Roy Lessin
Discovering God's Best for You
This is a sixty day devotional that offers inspiration to the reader each day. Although life isn't perfect every day that we are alive offers us the opportunity to improve.
The author offers a fresh view on various topics with biblical backing each day to encourage the reader and to inspire one to see things in a brighter view.
I found this book to be enlightening with stories, scriptures and words that inspire and encourage; it lifts your day when your life is going well and when there are troubles. It gives a biblical perspective that allows one to apply to everyday life.
I would recommend this book for gift giving. I liked this book so much that I purchased one for my sister; we shared our thoughts about what we read and how it encouraged us.
Ricky Kirk2 Stars Out Of 5Today is not about meJuly 13, 2012Ricky KirkQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2In this 60-day devotional by Roy Lessin, Today is Your Best Day uses scripture to focus on God's work in the believer's life. Topics include Christ's indwelling, serving the Lord, humility, love, redemption through Jesus' blood, grace, peace, the Holy Spirit, prayer, the cross, and heaven.
It can easily be seen how such a book would encourage many who are experiencing dark and challenging days. While I do not negate that, the overall impression of the book left me feeling like I was the center of God's love and attention and it was all about me. Again, there are definitely seasons in life when a believer needs to be reminded of the love, grace, mercy, peace, and indwelling of Christ. However, at the end of the day it isn't about me, it is about Him.
The book might be strengthened if practical suggestions were listed encouraging the reader to act on the various points, to serve others in their community, to share the gospel with others. With little focus on evangelism, discipleship or serving others Today is Your Best Day would not be my first choice of devotional material.

WordsmithAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Reasons to HopeMay 30, 2012WordsmithAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5There are times when it's hard for me to see the good side of life, and recently has been one of those times. Life has been seeming bleak recently, despite the many reasons I have to be happy. Recently I received a PDF copy of "Today is Your Best Day," which was free in exchange for a review. Reading it, I found reasons to hope again. My husband finds me amusing because I need daily reminders of things, God's grace, love, and reasons for hope being among those things. "Today is Your Best Day" reminds me of all of those things.
The book is short and simple, 60 days' worth of short devotionals written by Roy Lessin. Don't let that deceive you. There is a depth to it, a solid foundation of who we are in Christ, what He has done for us, and what His promises mean in our daily lives. I found it amazing and encouraging. Despite having a copy of it on the computer, I ended up ordering it in hard copy. There are some things that are just best to have around in a book, especially things I want to go over again and again. This is one of those books.
