Deals with issues many Christian movies shy away from

Maybe if Jake was a better friend, Roger wouldn't have killed himself. Jake Taylor's near-perfect life is shocked by the suicide of his childhood best friend. A million thoughts swirling in his head, Jake doesn't feel that being the basketball star with the beautiful girlfriend is as fulfilling anymore. What if he gave Christianity a chance? What if he made his life about something more than just himself?

"To Save A Life" has an amazing script and incredible acting. It deals with topics many Christian movies shy away from: suicide, sex, cutting, and family pressure. It discusses them in an amazingly Christian way that portrays both the reality of these things and the reality of the God who helps one overcome it all.

"At some point you got to ask yourself, 'What do you want your life to be about?'" -To Save a Life

I do not recommend this movie for anyone under 15. But if you're older, this movie can you remind you of truths you'd like to forget and inspire you to do something about them.

Awesome have been using this with juvenile inmates and youth at church. Very real. Everyday stuff the kids go through. It's so different than when I was in school, so many more pressures. A friend of mine's son killed himself at 17. 17!!!! He had so much going for him straight A student, good looks, all because a girlfriend wanted something different. So he called her and while on the phone with her, shot himself. He did this at home and the mom walked in ten minutes later to find him. so sad, I think this is the kind of movie every teen should see.

Can't ignore a crucial statement in movie....

I had been looking forward to seeing this movie ever since it came out. My nephew had committed suicide a few years back so I desperately wanted this movie to share with others and also to donate to our church's library. However, unfortunately I can't donate this to our church library in good conscience.Even though,I loved how the movie was so real and promoting the idea christians should love and accept everyone,I was totally shocked and dismayed near the end of the movie that the main character Jake says to his girlfriend who is pregnant with his child that he would support her no matter what she decided (meaning whether she had an abortion or not).I understand he was a new christian but since Jake was the main character in this movie and this movie was made to influence teenagers for the good, I can not accept that statement suggesting abortion as being okay.It is so very sad... this could have been a really extraordinary movie if they just would have put more thought into it.Believe me I am not normally a critical person I try to support all the christian movies I can but I got to be honest here as people should know about this very crucial point.

This is a great movie with a great message! This movie captures what Christian teens and non Christian teens deal with in everyday life with each other in school settings. This movie also tells us of what pastors and churches deal with in the teen community and how they reach out to teens. I liked how they wrote in the script about a local pastor who volunteers to pick up teens that have been drinking without chastising them. This does happen in some communities. It's a great way to reach out to teens. This movie also tells of how difficult it can be as a Christian and a teen as well as how important it is to not judge other teens that appear to be alone and untidy. We must reach out to them. This movie covers how important friendships are. We should have both Christian and non Christian friends. We must not turn a blind eye to old friends for popularity and the main character in this story has and has regretted it. This story also tells us about being unequally yoked. When we want to change and our partner doesn't. Wonderful movie with many realistic messages that also shows us how to deal with everyday stress of friendships and Christianity with discernment. Teen suicide is something that should not be taken lightly and I feel that schools and teen groups at church would benefit from showing this film.
