Kathy Scroggins5 Stars Out Of 5Genuine Love StoryJanuary 28, 2017Kathy ScrogginsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I bought this movie to learn more about their lives with a child who has Down syndrome. But it is so much more! It is a very candid documentary that gives you a peek into their lives and the struggles they went through, but genuinely shows how they kept their faith in God through it all. It is very well done and I'm so glad they were willing to share their story!
Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The true story of Rory and Joey Feek's journey of faith and love through adversity!December 7, 2016Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Just how does anyone come to terms with saying goodbye knowing you are going to die? Is there any way to prepare for the loss not only are you going to feel but also for your family and friends who have to stand by and watch as cancer robs the life of another precious saint?
Most people can say that they recall the story of Joey and Rory Feek, a country music duo, who faced such a hardship. In March of 2016, Joey Feek quietly walked into the arms of Jesus and entered into eternity despite all the best known attempts at beating cancer. Some people might say that she lost her battle. That despite the many months of prayers for a miracle, she simply didn't get one. Yet she was healed of her cancer. It may have robbed this precious wife and mom of her earthly life, but where she dwells now in heaven, cancer can no longer touch her and one day she will be eternally reunited with her family and friends, never having to say Goodbye again.
In the DVD, To Joey, With Love, this documentary chronicles this story of both the love and faith of Joey and Rory Feek, the birth of their daughter Indiana, who was born with Down's Syndrome, and the loss of the life of a mother for her two-year-old daughter. Thankfully the couple had the insight to film this journey and viewer of this DVD get a look at the personal journey that most never saw. The courageous battle to beat cancer this side of heaven, and the decision to quietly give up treatments when the cancer refused to shrink.
I believe that everyone will take away something different from watching this love story. For me, it is the love is eternal and everlasting. Perhaps that is why the Bible says that the greatest gift from God is love. It transcends time and space and it is the one thing we will take with us when we breathe our final breath on earth and take our first one in heaven. It shows that her faith in God never wavered in spite of all the doctor's diagnosis. Perhaps this one hits home for me, was my dear friend is also facing her third diagnosis of cancer. One thing is certain, the battle isn't ours to wage but God's and faith can be found woven into the entire documentary.
I received To Joey, With Love compliments of Icon Media Group. It is the hardest DVD I had to watch and review because it hits home for me as a wife and mother. It is a beautiful love story that had the pause button pressed for now, but one day will continue and will be the true story of happily ever after. I am so humbled by this mother's faith and the love she shows for her daughter, even as she knows her time is growing short. For me this will be one that stay with me, long after the movie ends and thus the reason for a 5 out of 5 stars!

I laughed and I cried. This story has a profound impact.
Joey and Rory Feek were a popular country music duo and peaking in fame when they decided to take a year off at the beginning of 2014. They knew they might lose their music career but were looking for something more important. Joey was pregnant so they went back to their farm an hour south of Nashville, simplifying their life. Rory felt that this was going to be a notable year so he began filming their experiences.
The story he documents is one of trial and faith. Joey opted for natural birth but then there were complications. Then came the diagnosis of Down Syndrome. A short time later Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. In the midst of the current story Rory took us back to how they met, their marriage and their music career.
The impact of this film is great. It was a sobering experience to watch Joey as she persevered in the face of such adversity. That I was watching filmed events in their life rather than reading a book made the story that much more intense. I loved their music forming the movie's soundtrack. Joey singing hymns was especially moving.
I highly recommend this movie. Those who appreciate Kara Tippets' story will appreciate this one too. Be sure to have your tissues ready.
I received a complimentary screening of this DVD through Icon Media. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Cindy NavarroCullman, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5To Joey, With LoveNovember 24, 2016Cindy NavarroCullman, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5To Joey, With Love is a documentary, based on home movies, of the final 2 and a half years of musician Joey Feek. Husband-and-wife singing duo Joey+Rory, 2010 Academy of Country Music New Vocal Duo winners, were in the midst of a whirlwind life when they did the unheard of for those who are experiencing extraordinary success. When Joey became pregnant, they decided to take a year off and simplify life for a year, living on their small farm. What started as Rory filming their lives and preparation for the birth of their child turned out to be an extended time when it was discovered later that Joey had cancer. The film follows the decision to take time off to the birth of their daughter Indiana, born with Down Syndrome, and continues through Joeys struggle with and ultimate surrender to cancerand is an intimate peek through the joy, despair, love, laughter, struggles, and hope as this family experiences a life they never planned. Narrated by Rory Feek.
I seldom cry when watching movies, but this one did move me to tears several times, for varying reasons. To be honest, I hesitated when offered the chance to review the DVD since I knew so little about Joey+Rory. Of course, I had seen the stories trending and knew that Joey had passed away---I had even prayed for them frequently during her illness, but I don't think I had ever heard even 1 song by them until watching the DVD. Plus, knowing of her passing, I was not sure if this was something I would want to see.
I was wrong! Rather than a melancholy story of a life cut too short, this DVD is a celebration of life. Nothing is sugar-coated, but the viewer is drawn into the lives of these people in such a way that there are as many tears of joy as there are of sorrow. Watching them LIVE their lives rather than just accepting defeats and falling into despair is a true encouragement to others. Of course, their faith in God as their sustainer and hope is a message that shines through. I do recommend you see this for yourself and share it with others. In the midst of sorrow, there is also inspiration and hope for this life and beyond.
