I loved the character of Will, very macho male, but gentle enough to care for his invalid sister. Charlotte and her daughter are sweet. Charlotte needed constant re-assurances from Will because of her past experience involving her daughter's father. And Will did not fail to re-assure her. He had his faults, like every macho man should, he blamed himself for his sister's accident. His commitment to his sister is a sign that he is not afraid to be committed to a woman. This should give Charlotte hope, after all her misunderstandings about Will had been cleared. I loved Ms Amant's writing; not many authors can do justice to a story in novella format.
The Perfect Arrangement - Katie Ganshert
I don't believe I've read a book by this author before now. She has a way with her writing that got me speaking out loud more than once. One of such times was when Amelia sneaked to catch a glimpse of her ex's wedding and rammed into a car in the process. The story is very believable, nothing fairy tale and beyond one's imagination. I could relate to Amelia: introvert, loving to spend her evenings alone with her cat, a love story movie or novel and a drink /popcorn. Expresses her self better with her pen and paper than with her voice. I really enjoyed the email exchange, and was looking forward to Nate's email as much as Amelia was.
Love in the Details - Becky Wade
I love Becky Wade's novels a lot, however, this one fell short. I guess it maybe that she didn't have room to build her characters well enough. This is a story line i would love to be given more flesh, re-done into a full novel. Ms. Wade's books have had me go back time and again to read them. This one was rushed, it had little conversation between Holly and Josh and more of their thought processes. Becky Wade is a very good author, perhaps, novellas are not her strengths.
Holly is amiable and cheerful most of the time. However, i think for a relationship that had broken 8 years ago, i would have loved to see more interaction between Josh and Holly, have Josh talk more about how he fared in the last 8years, have him aggressively pursue Holly. I guess i am hungering for more of Becky's full novels.

BookLoverGender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet and quirky romance collectionNovember 27, 2016BookLoverGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I was actually a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! I'm not typically a novella lover by any stretch, but I was looking forward to this collection after I saw it included stories by Katie Ganshert and Becky Wade (two of my very favorite authors) and can happily say that it definitely met my expectations! Plus, I discovered a new-to-me author to add to my already towering to-be-read pile.
Love Takes the Cake - Betsy St. Amant
I confess, I went into this story more than a little unsure. New author - would I like her writing? Hate it? What if I did? How could I review it? Fortunately, all of those questions became moot point within pages of starting this tale. I started reading and found I really enjoyed it! The characters were quirky and real: I adored Charlotte's daughter and her partner, as well as Charlotte herself, along with Will and his best friend. So many interesting characters, set around baking and wedding planning and more than a little matchmaking. Definitely a recipe for a quick, fun read!
The Perfect Arrangement - Katie Ganshert
I was so excited to read this story! I'm always a huge fan of Ms. Ganshert's writing and this story sounded like it was going to be a blast! I immediately feel in love with the quirky Amelia Woods, with her penchant for getting into trouble and spending her spare time at home with her cat. The introvert in me totally understood her quirks and wallflower habits and I so enjoyed getting to know her. I also loved the emails passed between her and Nate - they were so funny and sweet and very You've Got Mail. Oh, and George! I can't forget him - he's the grandfatherly character that shares time-learned wisdom with Amelia and reminds her of what's truly important.
Love in the Details - Becky Wade
I have yet to be disappointed by any of Ms. Wade's books and this one is certainly no exception - I just had to love it, too!
As I was reading, it seemed very familiar, so I think I actually may have read this story when it released in eBook, though it was definitely worth the reread. Josh and Holly are such a cute couple and I very much enjoyed getting to know them both, along with Holly's best friend Sam, her apartment neighbor Rob, and Josh's best friend, Ben. Ms. Wade does such a great job of creating unique and compelling characters that have me laughing and crying right along with them.
The only negative comment I have applies to a couple of the stories and it is that there were a couple issues that I thought were resolved a little too quickly, though I find that tends to be the case with many of the novellas I've read. But other than that minor detail, I very much enjoyed everything else about these stories. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with unique characters that make you smile!
My thanks to the publisher for my copy of this book! I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
RonyaRiverside, CAAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5To Have and to HoldOctober 12, 2016RonyaRiverside, CAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5To Have and to Hold was a joy to read. Three sweet stories of finding love while planning (or spying on) a wedding. The heroines were easy to identify with. The men were swoon worthy (even the "other" guys in each story). And I enjoyed the anticipation of how each author would bring about the happily-ever-after. Speaking of authors, I read this book because I absolutely LOVE everything Becky Wade writes! Betsy St. Amant and Katie Ganshert were new to me though. I love finding new authors and I think novellas are a great way to "meet" them.
Betsy St. Amant's story, Love Takes the Cake, was first up. With a bakery and a friend's wedding as a backdrop, how could you not be enchanted? Charlotte tugged at my heart with her sweet countenance and great love for her daughter. I love Will's loyalty to his friend and how God uses a scary situation to help him realize the truth. This story was a pleasure to read. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.
Next up was The Perfect Arrangement by Katie Ganshert. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed, after reading the first paragraph, to realize this story was written in first person narrative. I generally struggle to engage in first person stories, so I tend to avoid them. This is a short story, written by a writer friend of Becky Wade AND it has a flower shop in a small town as the setting, I decided I NEEDED to read it. I am SO glad that I did. It was a delightful story that gripped me from the get-go. I was expecting to have to push my way through, but surprisingly found myself being pulled along instead. I couldn't read it fast enough. Amelia's fun and quirky personality was so much fun to read and the email exchanges that launched the events of the story were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised to get to the end and realize through most of the story I'd forgotten that I was reading first person narrative AND I didn't want it to end! Well done Katie Ganshert! I loved it!!
Finally, the last story in this collection, Love in the Details by Becky Wade. I knew I would love this story before I ever started reading it because, as I said above, I LOVE everything Becky Wade writes. Josh and Holly's story grips you by the heart from the very opening lines. I love the way this story shows that God is in control always, in the good times and in the hard times. I love that this story is real-to-life, following God isn't easy. He is there to walk with us through the difficult things and we can have peace that we are following His guidance, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't still be heartbreaking and painful, even in years to come. I loved to see how this story was brought full circle. I loved Josh's devotion and Holly's generous spirit. Spring can't get here soon enough for me! I'm ready to read the new Becky Wade novel now!!
To sum it up, this is a great collection to purchase. Whether you know and love all three authors or are going to be be meeting them for the first time, you won't be disappointed. The stories are beautifully written and leave you wanting more. Although I read this book via e-reader, it will definitely be one I'll purchase in hard copy for my bookshelf!
