A Time to Build is book one in the series A Time For Everything. Brian Marshall works in the insurance office begun years before by his uncle, the loveable Big Ben. When Brian encounters the attractive Hallie Grover who's opening a new business, The Corner Café, his life turns upside down when he remembers she's the girl he once knew in college thirteen years ago. When a series of mysterious, unsettling attacks and unsolved crimes occur in McCane, Pennsylvania, Brian and Hallie take matters into their own hands.
A Time to Build, a romantic suspense, is skillfully penned by inspirational author David Bond. I can think of at least four reasons I'd recommend readers place this novel on their Must Read List. For one, the story is compelling right down to the twists and turns of the final chapters when the totally unexpected happens.
Bond's use of imagery brings the story alive. Descriptions such as "Blood rushed through his veins like molten lava," and "He pushed away from the wall, his sport shirt peeling away like tape" are peppered throughout.
If you think women write love stories better than men, think again. The author builds the romance between the hero and heroine, weaving it into the suspenseful events of the story. Though the romantic element in the story could be labeled "sweet," Bond's portrayal of the hero and heroine's passionate kiss made my heart thump.
David Bond lost his sight in 1988. Another reason I'd encourage a reader to download this book is to experience David's skill in creating scenes where sighted characters see, feel, hear, and touch their world around them. The author has not allowed his limitation to slow him down in creating an eventful and on-the-edge-of-your-seat story.
As a sighted author, I can personally attest to the difficulty in plotting, writing, editing, and putting the final touches on a novel. Dave Bond is a testimony of God's strength and power in this author's life.
