Tell us a little about yourself. I am the author of "A Journey through the Life of Jesus: A Yearlong Devotional Series of the Gospels. Volume I: Days 1-90." I hold a Master of Arts in Biblical Literature degree from Oral Roberts University. I am a member of Hope International Ministries, Tulsa, Oklahoma, serving the church as the Adults' Sunday school teacher.
What was your motivation behind this project? This project began while I was a graduate student at Oral Roberts University. One of my undergraduate professors, who also became one of my dearest friends, Dr. James C. Tollett, encouraged me to begin writing devotionals. He said that I may be called upon to conduct a devotional in one of my classes and thought it would be a good idea to have some devotionals ready to use at a moment's notice. Therefore, as time permitted, I began writing some devotionals for this purpose. I would e-mail them to him, and he started remarking that they were well written. He encouraged me to find a theme and develop it. Hence, to make a long story short, the chronological theme of the Gospels is what developed over time.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This book will appeal to readers because it takes a fresh, chronological look at the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and provides opportunities to apply these truths to their lives through each days Ponder Point.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Reading and studying the Gospels greatly enhanced my understanding of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. By seeing His total submission to His heavenly Father and the way He interacted with people, I am challenged on a daily basis to become more and more like Jesus. Likewise, writing the Ponder Points enabled me to apply the truths of Scripture to my own life.
