The appointment of Mrs. Minnie Wimbish as Historian of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc., was divinely inspired. It was historic in that she was the first woman to be named to the position, and she brought to it a unique perspective. Her inexhaustible vocabulary allowed her to turn just the right phrase to capture the essence of each Convention gathering. Her records loom far beyond the facts of the meetings as her words take on a life of their own. And delivery of her Annual Reflections, laced with uncommon wit, humor and wisdom, was an event itself as she recounted the year's sessions with an unduplicated lilting cadence that kept delegates riveted in their seats hanging onto every word. Although never intended to be a comprehensive history of the Convention, Through the Looking Glass is a prismatic presentation of the GMBC at its best through the eyes of a woman whose heart for the people and the work of the Convention is superseded only by her love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
