CC3 Stars Out Of 5not like hubby, don piper's, bookAugust 12, 2015CCQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 3A great value. I only paid $2 for this book, plus S&H. Quality was good, my aging eyes wished the print was a little bigger.
I expected some great insight, but was rather disappointed. Maybe an age difference or a personality difference between me and Eva: she had no idea how to run the household (i.e. write a check or buy a car). Praise God others were there to help her. That seemed to be a big part of her learning.
I was expecting a greater spiritual lesson since the subtitle is 'How my Husband's 90 Minutes in Heaven Deepened My Faith for a Lifetime'. In a latter chapter she does repeat many a pastor's message: read the Bible, pray continually, trust the Lord. Also, she sites the necessity of building and maintaining healthy relationships with those people physically near you so they will want to help you in your unexpected time of need.
I will still share the book with others because she does relate some perspective of her position. She has some very good advice for other long term care givers (take care of yourself!) And a few tidbits for those visiting the caregiver and the severely injured patient.
I would recommend this to others with the caveat it may be a little dry or slow moving, not like Don Piper's book.

This is the true story of Eva Piper when her husband Don Piper, author of 90 minutes in Heaven, had a tragic accident. Eva tells how and what she went through during his stay in the hospital and when he came home. She talks about how at first she was in survival mode as her husband was in ICU and not knowing if he was going to survive. She covers having to keep a household going, being a mom to her children, working as a teacher and staying with her husband in the hospital. She tells how she was in a very dark place and how GOD was the one to bring her through this.
Eva explains how she was feeling when asked about Don's condition, how she dealt with friends and family, how to deal with getting the energy to get through it all. This is a good book for caregivers and people who have hard situations in life and having to make difficult situations. It makes you see a whole different side of things and it gives an inspiring way to help when needed.
I would recommend this book to care givers and church members that do hospital visits. I also recommend readers to read Don Piper's book also. Reading both books gives two different sides to the same situation.
