There is no one secret to life. But there are three simple rules that have the power to change your life and your world. John Wesley taught and practiced these rules many years ago. Now it is up to us to practice this way of living.
Do no harm
Stay in love with God
Not only can these rules change your life, they can change the world. This insightful work calls us to mutual respect, unity, and a deeper daily relationship with God.
Rueben P. Job was a United Methodist bishop, pastor and acclaimed author and served as World Editor of The Upper Room publishing program. Best-known for the classic book, Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living, he also authored or co-authored A Guide to Prayer for Ministers and Other Servants, A Wesleyan Spiritual Reader, Living Fully, Dying Well, Listen, and co-edited Finding Our Way: Love and Law in The United Methodist Church. "Our world is deeply divided, highly cynical about its leadership, greatly disappointed in its structures and systems that seem so flawed, broken and corrupt, broadly conflicted and gravely afraid of tomorrow...
Today we need a message that can be clearly understood by persons of every age, every educational and economic level, every condition and circumstance of life...
There are two enormously encouraging truths for us to remember: One, God is with us. God continues to woo us, seek us out, love us, speak to us, enable us and lead us into the future. Second, it has been done before...
The core of John Wesley's message was that God loves us all, All of us are the apple of God's eye. We all can claim our full inheritance as God's children...
Wesley's three simple rules provide that message [method]: Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God."
Highly Recommended: Inspiring, Well Written and Easy to Follow. Outstanding "plain truth for plain people" guide for the UN-churched, Newcomer and Old Timer, alike.
