KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Not your typical action-packed suspense but captivating all the sameJanuary 15, 2018KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is the second Evie Blackwell Cold Case mystery but reads well as a standalone. The special cold case task-force is now official and working on their first cases. Threads of Suspicion features David and Evie in a fascinating play-by-play of police procedures. And I do mean fascinating.
It's like watching a crime drama show only getting all the clue building bits they skim over to get to the action scenes. This suspense is the opposite. Low on action and danger but high on the painstaking work police officers put in before they make an arrest. It's rich in dialogue, friendship building and complicated romances (David and Evie are both in serious relationships -- but not with each other.)
Evie is an astute, tough-as-nails cop but surprisingly vulnerable in her personal life. It's an intriguing contrast -- the confident and brilliant investigator doesn't mesh with the caution she carries into her romantic relationship. Love the rich, deeply thoughtful conversations she has with Rob. His steadfastness and patience as he waits for her.
A brilliant glimpse into the complicated world of investigative police work -- not your typical action-packed suspense but captivating all the same. -
debhgrtyPlymouth MAAge: Over 65Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Police Procedural Follows Threads of SuspicionJanuary 14, 2018debhgrtyPlymouth MAAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Debs Dozen: Detailed police procedural with Evie Blackwell leads to a cold case solution.
Threads of Suspicion is a detailed police procedural in this new Evie Blackwell Cold Case book. Evie has been chosen by the governor to work on a new Missing Persons Task Force that is trying to solve cold cases around the state. She and an associate, David Marshal, have two unrelated cases located in suburban Chicago.
Evie and David share office space and serve as each others sounding boards as they work through the details of their cases, come up with theories, and try to tie the links together. Henderson tells us the process in gory detail as well. If youre interested in the minutia of an investigation gone cold, youll love this book. I do but must admit at times I was skimming rather than reading those details.
To make the story more interesting, Evie and David both have love interests, but not each other. Evies is a successful banker who will propose when she comes to a decision about him, and Davids is famous singer, Maggie May McDonald with the band Triple M. Things become interesting when their cases intersect as well as their personal lives
Henderson knows the details of police work and explains them well-sometimes too well. She also knows how to write characters. Evie and David come alive and you care for them-as well as some of their suspects. I give Threads of Suspicion four stars, because I like police procedurals.
Dee Henderson is the award-winning author of the OMalley Family series, which first drew me to her writing as well as the Uncommon Heroes series among others. Shes won or been nominated for the RITA, the Christy, and the ECPA Gold Medallion. Find out more about her and her books at deehenderson.com.
Bethany House gave me a copy of Threads of Suspicion, but I was in no way obligated to write a review. -
Bookworm Babblings5 Stars Out Of 5An Intriguing MysterySeptember 20, 2017Bookworm BabblingsQuality: 5Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5This was a fantastic mystery novel. There were two cases to solve, and even with all of that, Dee Henderson managed to add a little romance into the mix. As Evie struggled with whether or not to accept Rob's proposal, she realizes things about herself that she needed to face. What a great example of trusting God to guide your life.

Mark1 Stars Out Of 5couldn't get into itAugust 18, 2017MarkQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1I hate to give bad reviews, especially for authors who have written books I have enjoyed. I loved the O Malley Series and a few others she wrote, but I just have not been able to get into her most recent books. I had trouble getting into her last series, but had hopes for this one..... but was disappointed. There is hardly any suspense or action, and I had to make myself read it.
I am not one to totally annihilate an author or their book, so I will just leave it at that: The book was not interesting, and needed more suspense and action.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
