Just like you, Ann Voskamp hungers to live her one life well. Forget the bucket lists that have us escaping our everyday lives for exotic experiences. "How," Ann wondered, "do we find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama, and daily duties? What does the Christ-life really look like when your days are gritty, longand sometimes even dark? How is God even here?"
In One Thousand Gifts, Ann invites you to embrace everyday blessings and embark on the transformative spiritual discipline of chronicling God's gifts. Its only in this expressing of gratitude for the life we already have, we discover the life we've always wanted … a life we can take, give thanks for, and break for others. We come to feel and know the impossible right down in our bones: we are wildly lovedby God.
Let Ann's beautiful, heart-aching stories of the everyday give you a way of seeing that opens your eyes to ordinary amazing grace, a way of being present to God that makes you deeply happy, and a way of living that is finally fully alive.

Named by Christianity Today as one of 50 women most shaping culture and the church today, and a partner with Compassion International as a global advocate for needy children, Ann's a regular loser of library books, usually has a sink full of soaking pots, sees empty laundry baskets rarer than a blue moon, and believes that the sky and fresh mercy over the farm is large and all is grace. The author gets mired down in minute details, and relates these details in stream of consciousness. I am just not enjoying reading this book.
Run2Him5 Stars Out Of 5what a blessingJanuary 7, 2017Run2HimQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5so many times we want to run from the truth of what has broken our hearts. Ann has a gift of drawing me into her family and trials. my story differs but the outcome is the same. seeing how God has reached out through His word to mend her and draw her to Him helps me see He is graciously doing the same thing for me. i gave two of these books away as Christmas gifts and shared mine with my mother over the Christmas holidays. she too enjoyed what she had read and will be purchasing one for herself
Bayou Believer1 Stars Out Of 5Begins with graphic childbirth imagryJanuary 5, 2017Bayou BelieverQuality: 5Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I bought 6 of these as gifts. While they look nice, within the first page there is a first person, graphic account of the author's birth complete with tearing and bleeding. I did not feel this language served a purpose and was offputting and therefore, I sm not giving them as gifts nor did I read further.
molly1 Stars Out Of 5Thumbs downDecember 29, 2016mollyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I understand what she is trying to say but I do not like how she is explaining every little thing. It is just redundant and I am not enjoying reading it. I am almost done with it and have to force myself to finish reading. I love christian books and can feel Gods presence. I do not feel it with this one. It is a thumbs down for me.
