Tell us a little about yourself. Paul Bryan's passion has been to know and serve the God of the Bible since he committed his life to Jesus Christ in 1976. He has served in leadership and teaching roles with various churches during this time. Although he was involved in many ministries, he feels his most important contributions to the Christian faith have been teaching adults to know the Bible and the God of the Bible as He truly exists. He spent his professional career in technology, mainly in management, working for multiple large organizations, including General Motors, Electronic Data Systems, and AT&T. He worked for cru (a Christian non-profit organization) in their technology department for five years, building and managing a technology project management office. He taught business courses at Southern Oregon University and the University of Central Florida for several years. He has a bachelor's degree in psychology and an MBA. Paul and his wife, Linda, live in southern Indiana.
What was your motivation behind this project? The lack of understanding and, therefore, belief in the God of the Bible was the driving force in writing this book. Also, the recognition that many people who go to church do not have a living, experiential relationship with this God. In other words, they do not regularly experience Him, communicate with Him, and interact with Him.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It is one thing to know ABOUT someone. It is another to know them personally. My greatest desire is for the readers to learn about the God of the Bible as He truly is and develop a living, personal relationship with Him. I want people to experience God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as part of their everyday life.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Studying the Bible, praying, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit helped me to be more sensitive to His voice and methods of teaching and guiding me.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My wife and a small core team of three others reviewed chapters as I progressed through their writing. After one year, ten "beta reviewers" reviewed the entire book. The feedback from these individuals was invaluable in ultimately creating a book that was easy to read and accurate in its biblical integrity.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I have been teaching the Bible for many years and have written hundreds of Bible study lessons. Yet, I have never written a book of any kind. I spent many hours on the Internet and reading books on how to write a Christian non-fiction book. The result was a book that the publisher, Lucid Books, said had better composition and continuity within and between chapters (43) than any first-time book they have published by a new author.
