Publisher's Description

An excellent book for anyone who is seeking to know more about the living God.

The first book in a two-part series, A Shadow of Good Things to Come, is a colorful book of Jewish history , dating from the time of creation with the Ancient of Days to king David. You will learn that God had a plan to save mankind, and He implemented that plan through the Jewish nation.  Told in Bible-story form, you will find answers to many questions you may have about the Bible and man’s relationship with God, questions such as:

Who is the true living God?

What is the purpose of man?

What promises did God give Abraham and his descendants through Isaac?

Why and how did God choose the nation of Israel to be His people?

Why and how did God set up the law and sacrificial system?

Why is Jesus called the Son of David?

“Deeper Insight” study questions are provided at the end of each chapter.

“I always wondered why a loving God would bring so much death and annihilation to people in the Old Testament. Now I understand. Sin was rampant, and evil men threatened the very existence of the future seed of Abraham, through whom Christ, the Savior of mankind, would come. This is a wonderful Bible-based, simply-stated study that all Christians will enjoy.”

Frances Henderson

“This is a good book for Christians who want to learn, in detail, about the twelve Tribes of Israel and their lineage leading to the birth of Christ. I was amazed to scripturally learn about the division of the land God gave to the Israelites. If you ever had doubts about Jesus, you won’t anymore.”

What was your motivation behind this project?  A hunger for truth and knowledge. When I was taking classes at Pacific Life Bible College, my eyes began to open as I studied and found Christ in the Old Testament. Up to that point, even though I had been serving the Lord for thirty some years, I didn't realize that the Old Testament actually contained a preview of Christ, and that it actually pointed the way to His coming. God's plan of redemption was there all along! I wanted to share what I had found. After leading a Christian women's group about what I was learning, I felt the Lord lead me to write the book and put in the same format as I was teaching it.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  This book has been written in story form and confirmed by the Scriptures. Where necessary, I have included the Hebrew translations. I have talked with many people that have bought my two-book series (this book and The King Is Coming) and read them. The responses bless me. They tell me it is Biblically sound, easy to understand, and that they are realizing and learning about things they had not known before. My hope is that whoever earnestly reads it will find the faithfulness of God within the pages and continue on to read the second book of the series to see that Christ fulfilled that which was written about Him in the prophecies and that God kept His promises. I also hope that people will realize that God asks us to be holy because He is holy. When we receive Christ, we receive His righteousness along with His power to live holy lives if we choose to.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  My faith has grown so very much as I realized more than ever that God is faithful to me and others who are in covenant with Him. This past year my twenty-four year old granddaughter was killed in a motorcycle accident, and my son died of brain cancer, and I had many questions with my grief. The bottom line, remembering what I had learned and wrote and placed in my heart has sustained me even in my pain. I have no bitterness or anger towards God, but I trust Him with all of my heart. His promises assure me that I will see them again.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I have read Paul Young's book, "The Shack," and saw the movie, as well. I was so happy when I went to one of his book signings and was able to speak with him and have my picture taken with him. I actually read his book four times and have given away over ten copies. "The Shack" drew me to the heart of God as he displayed God's mercy and love in his writings. I have attended several of Beth Moore's Bible studies in my women's groups and was able to see her in person at one of her events. Her Bible studies caused me to dig deep within myself which helped to bring healing to some of the places in my heart. l Billy Graham was an inspiration to me from my childhood. He spoke the truth, plain and simple, and I believed him and received what he said. He was a stability in my life. I have many more. Who knows, I may write a book about my life and then I will share the others.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  We live in a society that is much like the society of the Jewish nation before God sent them into exile for seventy years, just as He had told them He would. Good is being called evil, and evil is being called good. God's truth is being distorted in every way possible. I believe people need to delve into the Scriptures and know Who God is and know beyond a shadow of a doubt what He considers sin. As the Holy Spirit convicts us through the Scriptures, we can confess our sins and be forgiven and have peace with God.
