Kara LynnWVAge: 18-24Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5A book that most tweens and teens may enjoyJuly 23, 2015Kara LynnWVAge: 18-24Gender: FemaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2101 Things Every Girl Should Know is one of those books many, many, young teens and tweens will probably find helpful. From picking out a signature sent, to making lip balm, to talking to your crush, to during a split, this book seems to have a lot covered! It's a book with 101 things to learn and read.
Many books have an age range and since this book is from FaithGirlz (where a lot of the books from them are for tweens), I assumed it would be for twelve to fifteen year olds. However, the pictures of the girls in about 50% of the pictures are sixteen or up, giving everything a more "teen feel". That and the fashion tips where you see popular stars such as, Olivia Holt, Selena Gomez, the lead star of Divergent, and the like.
I give the book this - as an almost seventeen year old young lady, I found a lot of the tips helpful. I've always wanted to know how to dive off a diving board and how to do the splits .
There is two things I will complain about - sometimes the info appeared pretty vague. It says we need to read more and I was hoping for a list of good books to try. It said to play with the children you babysit and I hoped it would show at least one good game to play. I just wanted a bit more info - this would have been way more helpful!
Also, there is a a lot of "teen talk" (as in slang and the like). They want it apparently to feel as if it's from one teen to another, which is fine, but could be annoying. Think words like, "chill", "go see a doc", and I'm pretty sure they said things like, "don't worry girlfriend!".
Other then these two minor faults, I enjoyed the book, and I recommend it for girls fifteen and under. The cover is cute by the way and matches the feel of the book for sure!

It's all a part of growing up. "What do people think of me?" "Should I wear this or that?" "Does this blouse make me look fat?" These questions are very normal for girls going through Middle & High School.
The editors of Faithgirlz! and Girls' Life have collected their best advice to help girls take charge and feel confident in a variety of situations, from changing a bike tire to talking to a teacher about a bad grade to handling bullies. Growing up can be tough, but this guide makes it easier, providing fun insight and advice that parents appreciate and girls love. I appreciate this book very much because both my cousins are going through this phrase in life. They need to know what is appropriate and not appropriate during these years. I read through the book and highlighted some tips that my cousins need to keep in mind as they are experiencing teenager drama.
I know my cousin will love this book because 101 Things Every Girl Should Know touches on topics important to girls today including quizzes, Q &A's, journal prompts, articles and more.
SC2424VermontAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great book for teen girls!July 1, 2015SC2424VermontAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0This book, 101 Things Every Girl Should Know is DEFINITELY a winner for teen girls!! GREAT book! It's full of practical, important tips and little instructions about how to do many many many practical things! Things like how to accept a compliment, how to bake a chicken, how to give good gifts, how to write thankyou notes, how to write in a yearbook, and so much more! The scope is very broad, things that girls will encounter in their lives.
More? How to say you're sorry, how to make someone's day, how to tell a joke, how to teach yourself to French braid. :)
I really like this book and will give it to my daughters. It is a very helpful book, with the explanations/answers just one to two pages long. Full of bright illustrations and easy to read. The topics are "clean" and easy -- no racy stuff, no bad language, nothing that parents would cringe at. Well maybe the slang :) that kind of makes me cringe -- so so so much cutesy slang -- but the authors are trying to grab teen girls' attention and probably want to try to sound like a peer/teen.
I like the contents of this book. The 101 things (well, it's actually 102!) are, in fact, helpful. Give them as gifts! Teen girls like to read this type of book!
(*****one side note -- the cover of the book came unglued right at the first page -- the binding is fine, the cover just came unattached -- not sure if it's just a fluke with the book I received or if the publisher should take better care!)
Other than the issue with the cover, this book is a wonderful book for teen girls. I would definitely recommend it. It is published by Zondervan, but really doesn't contain religious stuff, just "clean" stuff. It'll reach a broad audience.
I received a copy of this book for the purpose of this review. I was not required to write a positive review.
