While it is aimed at young teenagers, this book definately has some lessons for the older generations. The chapters are small and easy to read, and it spells out for you the basic etiquette of saying things like ‘please', ‘thank you' and accepting compliments. Basically it is exactly what every lady needs to know.
Written by Kay West with John Bridges and Bryan Curtis, i could hardly put the book down. And while it may appear to some to be ‘etiquette training', inside the pages of this book is actually how to include good manners in your everyday life. These are not Life altering things that need to be done, just a simpler outlook on how to behave in the company of others. As Kay West says "Simply put, there are just some things a lady does. And while you aren't born knowing all of them, its never too early to discover the grace and good manners that will serve you well for the rest of your life.

LeAnneGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A wonderful book!!December 6, 2011LeAnneGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I think this is a great book that every young lady should read!! A lot of stuff in this book is probably becoming a lost art in today's society. How many young lady's do you know that are able to set a formal table setting [or eat at one], how to wright a thank you note, how to properly enter/exit a car, etc.? And I love that this book helps teach young lady's some very helpful manners to know!! And not just how to act at a formal dinner or at a dance, but also everyday manners too!! Like when it is not a good time to text, what to do if your Mother needs to ask you something but you are busy, and how to accept a gift you don't like, etc.!! This is a very well written book!! The chapters are short and to the point, and it has a "you do" and "you don't" list in each chapter. I found that it teaches a lot about manners but it is not a boring book to read!! They say it is written especially for girls ages 8 - 14 but I think even older girls could learn a lot from it. I highly recommend "50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know"!!
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. The opinions are my own.
Jelly Fish5 Stars Out Of 5This is a very useful book.November 3, 2011Jelly FishQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 550 Thing Every Young Lady Should Know is a book all about how to respond to or do certain things at certain times, such as how to say thank you when someone gives you a gift that you already have, or how to use a formal place setting. Each chapter starts with a page or two about what to do, then it has a section for certain circumstances and what to do, what not to do, and why to do that certain thing, or why not to do it.
This is a great book to use as a quick resource if you needed to know how to do something, but its not like a novel that you could just sit down and read through. I did enjoy this book, because it has some very useful information.
BookSneeze® has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.

With two daughters in my house I couldn't wait to read 50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know by Kay West with John Bridges and Bryan Curtis. It is so simply composed. It's really geared toward girls ages 12-14 but my 7 year old did not have a problem understanding it. It explains how to act in public, with friends and even personal grooming. Each chapter has short paragraphs with relatable situations followed by do's and don'ts on each topic. The book is easy to read. This bookd would make a great gift for a young lady who is on her way to womanhood.
As soon as I opened the envelope this book came in my seven year old daughter immediately asked if we could start reading it.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has daughters.
JenLGAAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Perfect to pass on from sister to sister!October 17, 2011JenLGAAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is just what I have been looking for! With two young ladies in my house I couldn't wait to read 50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know by Kay West with John Bridges and Bryan Curtis. It is so simply composed. Geared toward the 12-14 age range, this book is a collection of 50 logical reminders of how to act in public, with friends and even personal grooming. Each chapter has just a few short paragraphs with relatable situations followed by "do's" and "don'ts" on the topic. Starting off with saying please and working through more difficult social situations such as social networking, the book is easy enough to be read by a nine year old but mature enough for a teenager. This modern and upbeat etiquette guide would make a great gift for young women who are at the beginning of their road to womanhood.
As soon as I opened the envelope this book came in my nine year old daughter exclaimed "Is that MINE!?" Once I explained I was planning on reading it first, she curiously asked how long I would be borrowing her new book. My plan is to let her read this at her own pace. I know as she progresses through the chapters we will have the opportunity to discuss the various issues covered. I am just thankful I have a guide to help me tackle this new stage of our lives.
