Learn how to remain steadfast in your faith and hopeful no matter what as you examine these two epistles of Paul to the Thessalonian church he planted and loved. Each lesson's five days of questions (along with helpful comments and context) guide readers in a process of careful study and application of the biblical text.
The shape and themes of each epistle emerge, as well as Paul's overriding focus on the second coming of Jesus as a constant lens through which to live and learn and even suffer. Paul's loving encouragement and careful teaching about holy living and working in preparation for Jesus' coming can speak powerfully to Christians today.
Six lessons on 1 Thessalonians; four lessons on 2 Thessalonians. Notes on how to lead Bible studies are included.
The apostle Pauls letters to the Thessalonians form part of an exciting, complex story of the growth of the New Testament church. We live in a time increasingly like Paul's, when the church all over the known world is growing amid all kinds of aggressive false teaching. What an encouragement and challenge to witness Pauls zeal for the gospel in the midst of missionary trips, newly planted churches, and persecution from multiple directions! How gracious of God to give us Pauls inspired words, which still speak into the church with clarity and spur it on with the hope of Jesus' return.

This study of the two short letters to the church of the Thessalonians is essential to the church today and oh, so relevant. As Paul encouraged the believers at Thessalonica to be steadfast in their faith and to remain hopeful, so Kathleen, through her insightful questions, encourages believers today to live out the Gospel with steadfastness in persecution and affliction, faith in the Lords continuing work, and hope in His soon return. Prayer flows from every lesson, changing our lives as we make application. Thank you, Kathleen, for your explanation of difficult passages and the thoughtful questions that lead us into the great truths of these Pauline epistles.
I continue to be grateful for the insightful Bible study books that Kathleen Nielson produces, not only personally but also, because of their impact in the disciple making ministries at Briarwood. Without any hesitation I can assure you that this study book on I and II Thessalonians contains not only focused insights for the texts but extraordinarily well crafted questions that stimulate more study and meaningful discussion. Don't miss the opportunity to use these as effective disciple making tools in the life of your congregation.
What a wonderful gift to todays church! It is rare to find a Bible study that is both approachable to those who are new to studying Gods Word and challenging to those more seasoned in Scripture. Kathleen Nielsons Thessalonians study encourages students on all levels to look deeply into the truths of the gospel while anticipating Christs return.
