Tell us a little about yourself. I am a mental health therapist in a small town in Maryland and have been a Christian therapist for the last three years. I am a wife, mother of one daughter and step-mother to three sons. I love camping, animals, good health, and more than anything, the Lord.
What was your motivation behind this project? To help people learn what I have learned in my therapy with clients - that the Word of God and a rich relationship with Jesus Christ can do more for a person's mental health than all the therapists combined. My hope is to introduce people to the healing Jesus on every page of the Bible, and to help them learn how to turn to Him that way.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? To learn to turn to Jesus and their Scriptures for answers to every problem and question they face in their lives. People love God, but if they can fall in love with Jesus and learn to hear from Him through Scripture, then their lives will be transformed.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was struck by how little of what is available in Scriptures I could include in the book because there is so much. I had to choose what to include and what not to. I could write several more books with more examples of how Jesus can change your life and not run out of material. The Bible is the best mental health book on the face of the planet, and God wants to speak to us and relate to us through it.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Many pastors influenced my writings: Charles Stanley, Michael Youssef, Beth Moore, Jon Courson, Ravi Zacharias, Chip Ingram, John MacArthur, Alistair Begg, and many others. These people not only taught me about the Word of God, but also taught me to fall in love with Jesus. That made all the difference.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Anyone can study Scripture, memorize entire books of the Bible, or love God with that self-sacrificial love that He commands, but falling in love with Jesus - that passionate, powerful force that drives your every move - will change your life in a way you cannot imagine. Read Scripture through His eyes, and it will drive you right into His loving arms. That's what my book attempts to teach you to do.
