The Alamo has fallen. The fate of Texas is uncertain, and the strength of one woman's faith hangs in the balance. Ann's husband is dead, a casualty of the Alamo. Her son and the man she's learning to love just narrowly escaped death themselves at the confrontation at Goliad. Now Mexico's armies are pushing north, burning property and killing settlers, while Comanche raiders terrorize ranchers along the Brazos where Jerusalem Ann Hardin has decided to plant her clan. Will she join the panicked settlers fleeing to safety, or will she stand and fight for this land she loves? Will her new faith remain strong when the Comanche raids get personal?

Maureen Smith5 Stars Out Of 5June 13, 2010Maureen SmithTexas History is always interesting to me a for real Texan! The dates and settings bring back memories of stories from our ancestors. Such a good historical fiction. I enjoyed every word!
Faye5 Stars Out Of 5May 15, 2006FayeI enjoyed the first book and the second definitely did not disappoint! There is lots of adventure, action and crazy characters in the Yellow Rose. From Jerusalem's daughter, Moriah, getting captured by the Comanches to her son, Clinton the "perfectionist", is a glimpse into the pioneer spirit of Americans and their trials and tribulations as a family. I can't wait to read book 3 of this series.
Christian Book Previews.com5 Stars Out Of 5July 23, 2004Christian Book Previews.comThe Yellow Rose by Gilbert Morris is the continuation of the story of Jerusalem Hardin, a woman who moved her family from Arkansas to Texas following her wandering husband only to have him killed at the Alamo. Its the story of a strong woman who knows her weaknesses but finds her ultimate strength and hope in her faith in God.Gilbert Morris, as always, has woven a story with many twists and turns as we follow the lives of the various members of Jerusalems family. Jerusalem, as the matriarch, is the binding force of her family as they face the challenges of settling the Texas frontier. She has help from Clay Taliferro, a friend who found this ranch and guided them to it.Jerusalem faces life head-on with Clays help and Gods strength. Her nineteen-year-old son, Brodie, comes to manhood fighting Santa Anna. Seventeen-year-old Moriah is adjusting to her own womanhood and the suitors she draws. Fifteen-year-old Clinton got converted and is out to save the rest of his wayward family. Four-year-old Mary Aiden likes her dolls and Bob, the dog.Jerusalems life seems complete after she marries Clay, but then Moriah is abducted by Indians. As Jerusalem carries new life, Brodie and a new ranch hand, Quaid, set out to find Moriah. Will they find her? Will she survive the Indian treatment? Will Clay be a good father? Will he let God finish the work He has begun in him?Just as life now has its good and bad moments, life on the frontier did too. Gilbert Morris portrays this along with the strong faith that was carried into each new territory of a young America. This is a riveting book that catches you up on the first book and leads you to the third book. I believe men and women will enjoy Jerusalems family. -- Linda Demorest, Christian Book Previews.com
