LucyWVAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Past Meets PresentMarch 25, 2017LucyWVAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Amazing, spectacular, loved.....deserves more than five stars. I love the way Rachel Hauck weaves the story from the present to the past. The story is masterfully told and you don't want to put it down. Who is the man in purple, who wore the dress previously and what is their story? The answers will surprise you. My favorite part is how the Gospel of Christ is symbolic to the dress, "It never wears out. It fits everyone who tries it on. It doesn't need to be altered. It's always in style." What a beautiful picture this paints. The characters are very believable and some stories will bring tears. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love fairy tales.
I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson & Zondervan Fiction Guild. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
Jennybug524 Stars Out Of 5The Wedding DressMarch 10, 2017Jennybug52Quality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 04 stars- This is the story of Charlotte and the "perfect" wedding dress, not only for her but for several other women over several generations. It is also about much more than just a wedding dress. This is a very poignant story with a wonderful message. I actually read this book several years ago. I was not familiar with Rachel Hauck and saw this book at the store and it sounded very intriguing. Plus, I loved the cover. I was not disappointed. It was a captivating, emotional and poignant story that started me on my binge reading of all of Rachel's books (which were all just as amazing btw). This book is referenced in several other of Rachel's books and it is always fun to revisit characters from one book to another.
If you haven't had a chance to check out this book yet, be sure to do so soon because you will thoroughly enjoy it. Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Amanda B5 Stars Out Of 5Sweet story spanning 100 yearsMarch 1, 2017Amanda BQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Another sweet romance! I love Rachel Hauck's writing, and once again, she did not disappoint.
Despite the fact that Charlotte is known for her expertise dressing brides, she is looking for peace about her upcoming wedding, and 'accidentally' wins an auction for a trunk that has been welded shut. When she discovers a wedding dress inside, she begins digging into the dress' past. It is in perfect condition, which raises numerous questions in Charlotte's mind.
As Charlotte searches for answers to her many questions surrounding the dress, she discovers more than she ever dreaded or bargained for. Each of the four women that have worn the dress each have their own story to tell, and Charlotte learns about her own past.
I love the faith that is interwoven into each woman's story, and love that Charlotte is able to overcome her empty past in order to embrace a beautiful future.
This book goes along with The Wedding Chapel and The Wedding Shop. I read them all out of 'order', but still enjoyed them all immensely.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson for a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
Tammy G.East TexasAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful story!February 27, 2017Tammy G.East TexasAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I love the cover of this book! Weddings bring about a lot of pleasant thoughts...who doesn't love a wedding?
As I began reading about Charlotte I immediately liked her. She loves helping make a bride's dream come true by helping a bride pick just the right dress at her bridal shop.
One day, on a whim, she decides to go to a local estate sale, not intending to buy anything. But once there she is drawn to an old wooden trunk. The auctioneer seems to draw her into the bidding and, lo and behold, before she knows what has happened Charlotte has bid on the old trunk and won!
The old trunk holds a treasure of years gone by. When Charlotte discovers the wedding dress in the trunk's depths she sets out on a one woman crusade to find out the history of the wedding dress. This crusade takes her from woman to another, four in all. Emily, Mary Grace, and well...Tim!
This is read is romance/mystery without all the "yucky" stuff. Just good clean reading with christian references to God.
A great read!
