Reviews

Hauck weaves an intricately beautiful story centering around a wedding dress passed down through the years. Taken at face value, the tale is superlative, but considering the spiritual message both on the surface and between the lines, this novel is incredible. Readers will laugh, cry and treasure this book. - 4 1/2 stars Romantic Times

I previously read this title back when it was released in 2012 but had very little, if any memory of it since then. Reading it again was like for the first time - both riveting, mysterious and awesome all rolled into one.

As the title suggests - The Wedding Dress is about yep a wedding dress but about four very different woman who the dress finds its possession in. Our present day Charlotte is almost propelled into purchasing an old battered trunk from a overly persuasive (if slightly hypnotic) auctioneer. Spending way more than she should have - she brings home a welding shut trunk weighing almost less nothing apart from the weight of itself.

Once opened - the aforementioned wedding dress is revealed and so starts a dawning realisation that this tale is definitely a saga and will each previous owner of the dress will form an intricate portrait once revealed.

The Wedding Dress could well fall into the typical chick lit genre and starts off very much that way but soon morphs into something far deeper and more satisfying. Each previous owner of the dress has a story unique to her history and encourage the reader to find out just how they all magically link together. And despite the different eras and customs of each, the self same love story is told.

I encourage anyone who loves a sweet yet satisfyingly deep narrative to give this one a go. You wont be sorry you did.

Having read and enjoyed Rachel Haucks The Wedding Chapel, I was thrilled when The Wedding Dress showed up at my door as a review opportunity from The Fiction Guild. It surely did not disappoint. I generally despise stories in which there is a sense that the space/time continuum is disrupted, but for some reason, that doesnt bother me one bit in Ms. Haucks books. I love the connection between characters over time, and I also really enjoyed the flawed but loveable nature of Charlotte, and how most women could probably relate to her. I also really loved learning about Emily and the time period in general. I have no criticism of the book at all, and would recommend it for anyone who likes Christian romance.

I loved this dual-timeline story! Both of the main romantic storylines were fantastic and I loved switching back and forth between the two and finding out the latest happenings. There was definitely plenty of angst to go around in both stories and lots of fantastic romantic tension. I also enjoyed learning the wedding stories of the other two women who wore the dress. Four women in all ended up wearing the dress in this novel.

The Wedding Dress was hard to set down and I found myself reading "just a little more" to find out what would happen! I highly recommend this to fans of romantic fiction, whether contemporary or historical.

Amazing, spectacular, loved.....deserves more than five stars. I love the way Rachel Hauck weaves the story from the present to the past. The story is masterfully told and you don't want to put it down. Who is the man in purple, who wore the dress previously and what is their story? The answers will surprise you. My favorite part is how the Gospel of Christ is symbolic to the dress, "It never wears out. It fits everyone who tries it on. It doesn't need to be altered. It's always in style." What a beautiful picture this paints. The characters are very believable and some stories will bring tears. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love fairy tales.

4 stars- This is the story of Charlotte and the "perfect" wedding dress, not only for her but for several other women over several generations. It is also about much more than just a wedding dress. This is a very poignant story with a wonderful message. I actually read this book several years ago. I was not familiar with Rachel Hauck and saw this book at the store and it sounded very intriguing. Plus, I loved the cover. I was not disappointed. It was a captivating, emotional and poignant story that started me on my binge reading of all of Rachel's books (which were all just as amazing btw). This book is referenced in several other of Rachel's books and it is always fun to revisit characters from one book to another.

If you haven't had a chance to check out this book yet, be sure to do so soon because you will thoroughly enjoy it. Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
