Publisher's Description

Cheryl Broussard made two vows: She'd never fall for an abusive man, and she'd never return to her Louisiana hometown. But she's learned all too well the lesson of never-say-never. Now, back in Bijou Bayou after fleeing from an abusive boyfriend, Cheryl finds work as a Hospice nurse. While reading a dying patient's Korean War love letters, family secrets shatter Cheryl's beliefs about her family and herself and shed light on the reason she fled her hometown. When the Broussard family secrets are revealed, can Cheryl deal with the truth and accept the blessing of a second chance for relationships with her family, old friends, and with the God she never really knew? Find out in this Bijou Bayou novel from reader favorite, Marian P. Merritt.

This review was written for The Vigil - eBook.
This is quite a read. Marian has tackled the issues of family secrets and what it means to forgive others in a very engrossing and touching story. I was caught up in the lives of the characters and felt so much of their hurt and pain as I read their stories. It is a beautiful story of acceptance and forgiveness and one I definitely recommend. I was furnished with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Lies can destroy. Misconceptions can become buried wounds that ruin relationships, spirits, and even entire families. Secrets can fester then explode into an emotional maelstrom. In the pages of The Vigil by Marian Merritt, we not only witness that storm, we see the way Gods hand and forgiveness not just of others, but of self can weave their way through even the most difficult circumstances to initiate healingand hope. Merritt has crafted a taut mystery full of what will happen next and I highly recommend this book. Im looking forward to what comes next from this gifted author!
