IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fast-paced Romantic SuspenseMarch 20, 2018IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 5Colleen Coble is the master of Christian romantic suspense, and The View from Rainshadow Bay is no exception. It starts with a murder in the Prologue, and the pace never lets up.
Its been a year, but Shauna McDade still blames Zach Bannister for the death of her husband. Unfortunately, she needs his help as a father-substitute for her sons class trip. Two murders and a mysterious box later, she needs Zachs help for more than just the class trip.
One of the items in the box is a unique necklace that belonged to Shaunas motherone that was supposed to have been buried with her. Shauna and Zach chase clues together, but there are no easy answers. Its a detailed plot, with lots of seemingly insignificant events coming together in an unexpected end twist (no spoilers, but I really hope this is fiction!).
And that makes it kind of hard to reviewpretty much anything I might want to say could be giving away a significant plot point. So Ill keep it simple and say that if youre a fan of Colleen Coble, Christian romantic suspense, or both, then youll want to read this book.
The View from Rainshadow Bay is the first in the new Lavender Tides series from Colleen Coble, so its a great place to start if youve never read her books before. Recommended.
Thanks to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.
tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5heart pounding suspenseMarch 18, 2018tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Colleen Coble has a way of grabbing you right out of the starting gate, whether it's in the prologue or first chapter! You just have to keep reading after that, you have no choice.
Murders keep happening in Lavender Tides, one right after the other. Are they connected? Is it one person or several? You'll just have to read! The writing is so good that it's hard to figure out anything, just the way I like it. If I can figure out early on "who did it, and why" it's no fun to keep reading. Not true of this author! I've read many of her books and each one progresses to being the best of her writings, one after the other.
Shanna was a very likable character. She was very protective of her son Alex, especially after the accidental death of her husband Jack. So when danger comes a little too close she reluctantly moves in with her nemesis Zach. She blames him for her husband's death but protecting Alex is much more important and Zach is promising to keep both of them safe.
Follow along, word after word of this nail-biting novel. You may find some surprises!
And I love the cover! The beautiful lavender fields and the faintest image of a helicopter adds to the intrigue and the storyline.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the Fiction Guild but was not required to write a review.

The View From Rainshadow Bay centers around Shanna. She lost her husband, unexpectedly, has a son and a helicopter charter business. Shanna is trying to handle all of this but it isn't easy. Then her partner in her business is murdered. His final words make her believe that she could be a target also. She turns to the one person that she blames for her husband's death, Zach Bannister. Together they learn to deal with the death as he helps Shauna and her son to stay safe.
I saw a friend read one of Colleen Coble's books last year and she loved it. I have to agree. This is the first that I read but I can see coming back to this one and reading others of hers in the future. I found myself turning pages and not putting this down and the mystery and romance advanced.
I highly recommend this book to lovers of mystery and suspense.
I was given this book by Thomas Nelson publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Anna MaeAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5The View from Rainshadow Bay by Colleen CobleMarch 8, 2018Anna MaeAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5From the queen of Christian Fiction, romance and suspense, comes the first book in a brand new series - Lavender Tides. I have all of Colleen's books and they just keep getting better and better.
I never tire of who did what, why, and when. This book has more suspense than you can gasp at throughout.
I love stories you can't guess the ending. This was definitely one of those.
It also had a touch of sci-fi. It doesn't get any better than that. Interested?
I also got a glimpse of where several of the characters might be going in the next of the series. I can't wait for the next thriller.
Thank you, Fiction Guild, for another winner.
