My oldest loved her Veggie Bible. With all the choices available my son chose the same thing. It is very inviting to young kids. They love reading it. A parent simply can't complain when kids Bibles wear out from use. The reason for only 3 stars us this. I didn't realize how different the wording would be between the NIV and the NIrV. For adults it may not be such an issue, but for an 8 year old memorizing, its a little confusing. I wish they would would messing with all these translations. Its harder for the kids.

This bible was purchased as a gift and was perfect for the 7 year old young man that it was given to. He recognized the characters and was fascinated with the cartoons infused in the pages as well as the explanations of each chapter of the bible.

I love that it is a fun way for kids to get familiar with the bible. Great gift!

I really like this Bible. I love how engaging it is for young children. My 8 year old saw it when it came in the mail and said "I want it!" This Bible is so colorful and fun. From the full color comic strip pages to the cover pages for each book of the Bible that tells about each book, it is great from cover to cover.

    The features included are:

Veggies Stories-- cute little comic strips that tell some of our favorite veggie versions of Bible stories.

Book Introductions-- tells about each book of the Bible and gives all the important info about each book.

Veggies Values--these little sections tuck in little tidbits about certain values such as patience, love, and putting others first, just to name a few.

Remember This-- these are highlighted verses for kids to remember.

I really only have one negative about this Bible. The translation. I have never been a fan of NIV or NIrV, but I ordered this for a friend who doesn't mind it. I knew the translation going into it so I won't let it hinder my review. This negative is the only one I could find for this Bible. This Bible would be a great gift for any child in your life and I see lots of kids being interested in reading their Bibles because of this Bible.

This review was written for NIrV VeggieTales Bible, hardcover.
The binding on this edition is a stitched binding, rather than simply being glued together as I have read the earlier version was. This makes it a durable version that won't fall apart with harder use by kids. The size is nice for smaller hands, without being too bulky. It is colorfully printed covers, no dust jacket. Inside you find 32 pages of full color of Veggie artwork. These pages encompass 8 stories, told Veggie style. These stories have all been released as videos in much greater depth than the graphic pages, but they make nice additions to the bible.

The text is NIrV, which is a simplified version of the NIV translation, making for easier reading. There are numerous "Remember this!" insets throughout. These are short verses which can be memorized by kids and have powerful importance, for instance, "Sin is waiting at your door to grab you. It desires to control you. But you must rule over it. Genesis 4:7" Other insets include, "Whoa! Check this out!", "Truly amazing!" and "Listen to this!" among others. Each of these insets has a different character representing it so if you spot a character you can know which type of inset it is. This is a great addition, but the big downfall of this is all of these insets are printed in varying shades of blue, no full color. Actually the entire text of the bible is a dark blue.

Each book of the bible has a child-level introduction, and important biblical figures are profiled on full-page inserts throughout. An index of "Veggie values" and a simplistic dictionary are included in the back of the bible, along with some lined, blank pages for notes.

All in all, this is a very nice children's bible. My biggest issue is with the coloration. The predominant blue color printing is not problematic for me, but I do wish there was more of the full color printing to be found. I understand the cost of full-color is more expensive, but the list price of $29.99 for this bible would seem to merit more of the endearing characters as they are, rather than gradient blue. Personally, I think this bible is overpriced at the list price; however, it can be found at significantly lower prices if one simply shops around. The price is determined by the link to Veggie Tales rather than actual features of the printed bible. If this were an unknown set of characters, exactly as it is, the price would likely be under $20.

One of the best things about this children's bible is it is actually a full-text bible, not excerpts or simply stories. It is designed 4-8 years old primarily, but that range is listed differently on different sources. Early readers will find it tough, but love the pictures. Older readers will find the text easier to understand than an adult bible. A great overall combination. I just wish there were more full-color inclusions.

My girls love veggie tales and this bible is a beautiful addition to our library. I have 4 girls (ages 7, 5, 2 and 6 months) and it has been great to read together as a family. Written with simplified language, easy to understand, great notes included and your favorite veggies are included in pictures. Wonderful addition to our bible readings and would definitely recommend in general and for veggie tales fans!
