Sofia Marie4 Stars Out Of 5Very God-focusedDecember 21, 2016Sofia MarieQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0"Judd was afraid, but he wasnt puzzled. As the pilot came over the intercom, pleading for people to remain calm, the full realization of what had happened hit Judd. He didnt know how many other people on the plane had any idea, but he sure did. Christ had come as he promised and raptured his church. Judd lowered his face into his hands and shuddered. It was the worst nightmare imaginable, and he was wide awake. He, and most of the passengers on that plane, had been left behind."
God has come back for His church. Teenagers Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan are now all alone, except for each other. Their future is uncertain, and their lives seem pointless. As they are told the truth they have one choice: to believe or to not believe.
This book discusses life after Rapture for those who are left behind. Very God-focused, "The Vanishings" helps us stop and consider our faith in a new perspective. We do not want to be left behind when Christ comes for His children. This is part of the Left Behind: The Kids series.
"Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left." Matthew 24:40-41 (NIV)

In this book, four kids lose their parents to the rapture and walk around Earth trying to figure out what happened when they run into each other. The four kids who are Judd, Ryan, Lionel, and Vicki meet each other at their church where they are told why they were left behind. All but Ryan soon become believers after they learn of the rapture, but it takes Ryan longer due to past hurts he has not worked out yet. During this story, it gives kids an idea of what will happen to non-believers after the rapture and I found the story to be not only entertaining, but also a good wake up call. This would be a good source for parents to use to teach their children about the rapture and why it is important to become a Christian.

Four teenagers left behind when their families disappear struggle for answers as they try to make sense of what happened. I thought this was an interesting young adult novel about the rapture and what could possibly happen when the event occurs.

It is the version of "Left Behind" for teens. I have a "tween" I wanted to review the book for to see if I thought it would be understandable reading about the end time events. The story is about the rapture taking place and those who are and are not ready. This version focuses on teenagers and their various reactions to the Gospel. The authors gave realistic portrayals of teenagers in the throes of peer pressure and family pressures as they make decisions about their faith. Some are totally rebellious about having any part of church. Others go along with their families for awhile and then go their own way. Then there are those who are really saved and then try to witness to their friends. The relationships between parents and teens are very true to life. When the rapture occurs those teens who did not choose to accept Jesus and be saved were devastated when parents and friends vanished without a trace and the world became a place filled with death and destruction. Life as they knew it would never be the same. However, it was not long before they remembered what they had been told about Jesus' return and, too late, they realized they had refuted the truth. The lives of 4 teens are singled out to follow as they each make their way to a church to join others who were "left behind." They are now open to the truth they once rejected. Very believable situations were written out for the lives of the teens in the story. I like the way the message of the beginning of end time destruction was presented for the younger generation. It could make a difference in the life of an unbelieving teen.
HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5July 22, 2014HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: femaleGreat book! I've read the actual Left Behind series and wanted to preview this series for my kids before having them read it. The book recommendation is for ages 10-14, however, I really feel the recommendation should be for 13 and up. Some more mature issues are dealt with in the book that my 10 year olds wouldn't be ready for--drugs, alcohol, running away, stealing, etc. I really liked that four very different kids are featured in the book--3 boys and a girl (a liar, a skeptic, etc.) The story flowed quickly, the plot was great, and the gospel message is clear. Definitely recommend for the teenager in your life!
