Series: The Ultimate
Jason Stephens lives a life of wealth. A life of privilege. A life that's about to take a radical turn. Jason always had a straightforward relationship with his billionaire grandfather, Howard "Red" Stevens. He shunned him but welcomed his money. So he figured when Red died, his part of the inheritance would be a simple cash transaction that would fund his extravagant lifestyle.
Instead, for Jason to receive his inheritance, he's given an ultimatum...a series of twleve tests or "gifts" as Red calls them. If he fails at any one of them, he loses everything. If he completes them all, the ultimate gift will be his.
One of those "gifts" involves finding a friend...something Jason has never experienced before. Yet this unlikely friendship and an unexpected romance may just open his eyes to what he's been missing all along.
"You don't begin to live until you've lost everything."
Dee3 Stars Out Of 5July 30, 2010DeeI first started reading this truly wonderful book that after about a chapter or two had to stop and start over reading it aloud to my husband (who hates reading). The story is so engaging. I couldn't wait to see the movie. We were not as won over by the movie. If I hadn't read the book, I might have rated it better, but missed so much of the richness of the book. Cast was a great choice just didn't like the on screen script. See the movie but get a richer experience by reading the book!!! It's worth the time for all ages. We look forward to reading part 2, the Ultimate Life.
Susan Rohrer5 Stars Out Of 5June 5, 2009Susan RohrerIf you loved this wonderful family movie, you'll also adore Cheryl McKay (The Ultimate Gift screenwriter) and Rene Gutteridge's latest collaboration, NEVER THE BRIDE: a Novel, based on Cheryl McKay's new screenplay. It's a fabulously funny, inspired romantic comedy. Check it out!
Shellina5 Stars Out Of 5August 27, 2007ShellinaIt's a story that you can see the plot moving along and aren't surprised by the outcomes...however, the character development and attachment is intense. The emotional and spiritual movement in this book is wonderful and moving. I fell in LOVE with Jason and his grandfather and was moved to tears at various points....not tears that were forced by some typical cliche line...but real emotional growth in the character.
