Product Description

The first English Bible translated from the original languages

William Tyndale believed the Bible should be available in the vernacular—the common people’s speech. He famously declared, “The boy that driveth the plough shall know more of the Scripture than [an educated man].” Though forbidden by the Church to translate the New Testament into English, Tyndale’s determination resulted in its finally being printed in Germany in 1526. Smuggled into England, the Tyndale New Testament was a monumental success. The simple, direct language of many of its verses has resonated down the centuries.

William Tyndale’s legacy stems from his having translated the Scriptures in a way that made the most of the emerging English tongue. Bible collectors and anyone interested in the history of the English Bible will treasure this unique volume.

  • Co-publication with the renowned British Library
  • Facsimile of one of only two complete copies from Peter Schoeffer’s 1526 printing, held in the British Library’s collection
  • Features clear, legible type and original, color illustrations
  • Authoritative new introduction by David Daniell (Emeritus Professor of English Language and Literature at University College London; founder and first Chairman of the Tyndale Society)
  • Ribbon marker

I received my Tyndale NT in the mail today and really do treasure it. There is only one thing I would gripe about and that is the usual small print. Now this is not no tiny 8 point font, but the 10 poison font isn't much bigger. I find it hard to read due to the small size print. Other than that, this NT is very nice. It comes with gold gilded pages, ribbon marker and nice leather cover. This NT is easy to store as well. I do recommend it for those interested in collecting such a lovely piece of Christian antiquity. This is also something to take along to a Bible study when you learn how to read it. It is written in old English, so it will take some getting used to. There are no verses but the beginning of chapters are marked.

Please treat yourself to this small, full-color reproduction of one of the earliest translations of the New Testament in the English language, available in black, soft genuine leather with a sewn binding and gilt edges. If you are a Protestant, you may not know that Tyndale GAVE HIS LIFE to translate and publish the New Testament (and later the entire Holy Bible) into English at a time when both Church and State forbade all but the Roman Catholic Vulgate Latin Bible, depriving English-speaking Christians of reading the Word of God in their own language. This is a true facsimile, with EVERY PAGE in beautiful full color. I would recommend buying this exquisite little New Testament if it cost $350 or even more; at ChristianBook.com's price, it is an unbelievable bargain. Please buy it while you can and sample your Christian heritage, an Early-Modern-English (1526) translation that helped make possible the eventual publication of the revolutionary and beloved King James Bible nearly a century later in 1611. With every page of the New Testament reproduced in full color, this is by far the most beautiful Bible I own. It is the perfect gift for yourself, your parents, your pastor, or for anyone interested in the history of the English Bible or the English language itself.

if you appreciate the history of the English Bible you'll definitely appreciate this beautiful quality Bible done by Hendrickson publishing.

William Tyndale was definitely a front-runner in the hero ship of the Bible.

Without him we wouldn't have God's pure word in our King James

The product was clearly advertised as a facsimile. What a treat to have an exact facsimile of Tyndale. The price was amazingly low. For people who are not familiar with a facsimile, do not expect to be able to read the type easily. If you wants an easy read buy a modern print. If you want to have an exact replica of Tyndale this product is for you.

Mr. Tyndale wanted the Word of God in people's hands for a reasonable cost to them. This present $19.99 cbd.com SUPER SALE is the 1st time the 1526 has been offered 75% off !!! Even the Hardcover is $30 reg 47. As soon as I saw this in the 413916 Catalog : Item# AE562910 ( Reg $79.95)

I ordered 12 copies. This 1st work of Wm. Tyndale reads better than his 1534 revised. This is THE ABSOLUTE BEST NEW TESTAMENT available today. What a glorious priviledge to have a BRAND NEW facsimile of 1 of the only 3 original copies left, in The British Museum.
