Patience Cavanaugh has lost hope in romance. The man she yearned to marry is dead and her dreams are gone with him. Now she is consumed with the restoration of a dilapidated boarding house in order to support herself. Despite her desire for solitude, Jedediah Jones, the local sheriff with a reputation for hanging criminals, becomes an ever-looming part of her life. It seems like such a simple arrangement: Patience needs someone with a strong back to help her fix up the boardinghouse, and Jedediah needs a dependable source of food for himself and his prisoners. But Patience gets more than she bargained for as she explores the depths of the "hanging lawman"--and finds both betrayal and love.

However, when she shows up at the jail the following day with a delicious peace offering and a bumbling attempt at humility and apology, she most definitely catches his attention. When was the last time that a woman caught the eye of Jedidiah Jones?
Patience Cavanaugh has expended tireless hours and endless energy into restoring her late grandmother's boardinghouse in Nevada City, optimistic that the gold rush town will one day be a bustling city upon completion of the railroad. There has been no time for empty flirtations, especially with handsome, rugged lawmen, . . . . .until now. What is it about Marshal Jones that has her running into him; literally, on so many occasions?
Unfortunately when it appears that these two might come to a pleasant agreement, an ironic twist of fate leaves Patience wondering just what kind of trouble she is really in. Surrounded by pleasant characters and a lovely historical setting, these two heroines will have to overcome past regrets in order to arrive at their future. Enjoy every page of "The Trouble with Patience"!
BarbWest Monroe, LAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic BookMay 19, 2015BarbWest Monroe, LAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Trouble with Patience is a fantastic book. I love and enjoyed reading this book from the beginning to the end. There are many characters, but the author is excellent in making each one unique plus adding the details and descriptions that I had no problem in keeping up with each one. The storyline has twists and turns plus a few surprises I was not expecting and this made the book more enjoyable to read. I enjoyed Author Maggie Brendan's style of writing and will definitely read more of her books. The Trouble with Patience has romance, drama, mystery and humor written in the Western Era and I highly recommend reading this book.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.
weatherlover1U.P MiAge: 35-44Gender: Female2 Stars Out Of 5Not for meMay 3, 2015weatherlover1U.P MiAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 2Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2What I liked: I liked the set up for this book. A lonely sheriff with a past and a witty young woman trying to make a go of it on her own. It had the typical story of the main characters not liking each other at first. I liked both Jebediah and Patience.
What I didnt like: For me there was a lot in this book I didnt like. It moved kind of slow at times. Patiences mom came to visit and after years of tension between the two of them suddenly everything was fixed. So not believable. A man that Jebediah had wronged forgave him without much effort, again just seemed too easy. There were other instances where the story just seemed to simple.
Overall this book was okay but not one I would read again and I most likely will not read any more of the series.

New to a small gold-rush boomtownNevada City, in the Montana Territory, Patience Cavanough is restoring the dilapidated boardinghouse her grandmother left her. She is turning it into a Bed & Breakfastthe Creekside Inn, in order to support herself. She is hopeful to have boarders while fixing it up.
Marshall Jedediah Jones and Patience don't hit it off at first. She thinks he is rude, demeaning and sorely lacking in social graces; which she tells him in no uncertain terms, and that he needs to apologize for his rudeness. Not only that, he makes the worst tasting brew of coffee she ever drank!
Jedediah shakes his head and chuckles, thinking back to how Patience tried to interfere with his duties as marshal while arresting someone earlier that morning. Even though she has really pretty green eyes, she spells T-r-o-u-b-l-e with a capital T, which he did not need. However, he
makes an arrangement with Patienceshe would supply him food for himself, his prisoners and when the occasion arose, his posyand he will help fix up the boardinghouse.
Cowboy Cody Martin arrives in town looking for work to tide him over till he gets a full time job and a place to stay. He acquires a room at the Creekside Inn and offers to help with the much needed repairs. Jedediah is not sure he likes that arrangement at all.
The residents of Nevada City are friendly and watch out for each other, helping whenever needed. I enjoyed watching Patience and Jedediah tip-toe around each other, not sure where things would go. I wasn't sure about Cody at firstthought he was up to no good but ended up liking him. Patience's friend, Emily is a sweet, shy young woman. I loved the mixture of the characters in the story and the humor, finding myself chuckling along with them. There are some unsavory characters, cattle rustlers, murder of a dear town resident, regrets from the past, forgiveness, strong faith woven in the story.
