Nancy5 Stars Out Of 5This is one of our family's top 3 books!May 5, 2014NancyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We were introduced by extended family to this book in the mid-1990s and then were thrilled to be given our copy when we were pregnant with our first child in 1997. It continues to be one of our favorites even as our children are 16, 14 and 11!! I have referred to it many times to explain to adult friends the 4 basic temperaments. The animals are so easy to identify and remember. Also, the illustrations are beautifully detailed and a visual treat no matter how many times we've read it. Like other reviewers have said, we love giving this book as a gift and often track down used copies online if we can't find it new.

The book is beautifully illustrated to capture children of all ages' attention. It teaches each of us to treasure who God made us to be and to also treasure those around us. I have bought many of these books over the years to give as presents. I recently gave the book to teacher friends who teach special needs children. Meanwhile, the local public school merit class used this for a study in discovering and appreciating diversity. The animals used to discover our character are precious. Thank you CBD for making it available since 1992 when it was first published.

BrenYork, PAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5We need eachother, all of us have value strengths!March 6, 2011BrenYork, PAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We got this book at a conference at our church as John Trent was guest speaker at a marriage event. We had no idea how this book would change our lives! My first born son is defintely a Lion, and my second born son an otter!
We noticed early on that they would play fine together and then once the giggiling began, watch out! Screams would follow, we never understood why my first son would be having such a good time only to become irritated to the point of harming his brother! Only" after" reading this book did the "light bulb go off!"
Think of what would happen if a lion and an otter began to play together, the lion would be amused at first of the silly otter's playfulness only to then pop him with a paw, and end the play. We are so grateful to John Trent for writing this book, and helping parent's to have a tool to read to their children, that all children are valued and each personality has it strength! The illustrations are beautiful and the size of the pages large enough to read at bedtime, as we show the pictures to our kids as they listen. Very humorious stories that keep their interest. This will be a classic to share for years to come!!if you have more than one child, or grandchildren this book is a must!!
