Laren5 Stars Out Of 5The Heart of the MatterOctober 4, 2017LarenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We see various bumper stickers and t-shirts that say I (picture of a heart) followed by the item the person wants people to know they love. I heart my dog, my cat and even I heart bacon. We know the picture of the heart translates as "love." These are cute but the heart and love are more important than a bumper sticker. The heart needs to be functioning well for us to live physically and it needs to be in the right condition for us to live well spiritually with God.
In today's world, according to this reference, we see the heart as the origin of emotions and the mind as the thinking organ that makes decisions. Our biblical ancestors saw the heart, mind, and soul as the same organ. This means the heart does the thinking, feeling, and decision making. The study reports there are over 800 references to the heart in the scriptures. Each reference uses different adjectives to describe the conditions and functions of the heart. Adjectives can be used to identify things as bad or good.
The Transformed Heart shares some of the adjectives used to identify the condition of the heart according to scriptures. Positive words used include: believing, broken and contrite, committed, forgiving, loving, obedient, trusting, wise and God-following. On the other end of the spectrum they use words such as: backsliding, bitter, deceitful, hard, lusting, proud and foolish to describe possible negative conditions of the heart. Using The Transformed Heart as a reference we are encouraged to identify the condition of our own hearts and then to decide if we are where we should be or want to be in our relationship with God.
Once we evaluate where we are, they give specific steps we can take to improve our spiritual condition. Their guide calls it "Spiritual Heart Care."
I liked the format using lists as they are easy to follow and will provide quick references later when I need to re-evaluate my heart's condition. I learned a lot from this booklet. I felt both convicted and hopeful. Convicted that I am not where I should be in my relationship with God but hopeful that I can change. It also tells me I am not alone. God is there and I can draw nearer to him. I think all Christians can benefit from a re-evaluation of where they are in their relationship to God and this is a good reference to do that.

One of those aspects is applying what you learn to your life which leads to a transformed heart (and life).
Rose Publishing just put out a new pamphlet that talks very effectively about the heart and what it is, how to identify a transformed heart and how to care for that heart.
I really like how they provide a tool that you use to keep yourself in check and work towards the goal of living a life with a transformed heart. This is very well written and Iwould highly recommend this pamphlet as a tool to help you in your faith.
I received a digital copy of this resource from Rose Publishing in return for my completely honest opinion in this review.
Ann5 Stars Out Of 5What the Bible says about the Heart,October 2, 2017AnnQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Many of my senior adult friends are having heart problems. Just last week one friend had a heart attack. These days our conversations include terms like cardial infarction and procedures like Angiogram/Cardiac Catheterization. This pamphlet provoked a new thought process for me. The Transformed Heart, What the Bible says about the Heart, shows us we need to recognize the signs of an unhealthy spiritual heart. As time draws near for our exit from this earthly realm, we need to prepare for our Home Going. Most Christians have asked Jesus into their heart, but we need to address our spiritual heart issues. One colorful chart helps us examine the condition of the heart and a question to ask. Example: a hard heart Ephesians 4:18. Question: Am I resistant to God's word or will? A bright red heart shape draws our attention to Our external life: What we say and what we do. Our internal life: What trips us up; what drives us; what we try to hide. Spiritual heart care is vital in a Christians life. Six questions are provided to help you assess your current heart condition. My favorite section of the pamphlet is the detailed charts showing the Marks of a Transformed Heart. The orange colored charts have descriptive meanings and include scripture that illustrates that trait. Example: a delightful heart, Psalm 37:4 "to be satisfied in God at the core of your being." John 15:5 reminds us that apart from Jesus we can do nothing to change our own heart. As the Holy Spirit reveals an unhealthy heart habits, we must acknowledge our sin and renounce bad attitudes and habit. This would be a great Sunday School lesson for my womens class. Henderson/Rose publishing gave me this PDF for an honest and fair review.
