Michael Doering5 Stars Out Of 5Exceeded Expectations!July 26, 2016Michael DoeringQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Torchlighters Series are phenomenal not only in their quality and storyline, but choose a great route in sharing amazing people in an understanding way to little ones without losing the depth of what God did in each of their lives when they became Christians and allowed God to use them in mighty ways! Each power packed 30 minute story is SUPER, and worth every dollar you spend! Its not just 30 minutes though, in the extras is a whole documentary about the person that typically lasts an hour or so which my husband and I call the parent bonus! SO GREAT!
Now something that you do need to be aware of is that there are times that the subject matter is serious, and people do die sometimes....it is a true story, and they try to keep it factual without being graphic (though it is only a cartoon) it still deals with the idea of death and people being harmed at times. But these are just topics that you can talk to your children about prior to and afterwards to make sure they understand the why and how of it all. This series has in no way upset any of my children (and the children who watch them are ages 4-13), but each child is different and if you have a highly sensitive child who is easily upset by death you would need to first preview this or maybe not use this material to share the stories of these incredible people of God.
Overall, this is a top of the line series that I have grown to love....I mean absolutely love! I have seen many a childs cartoon over the years, and longed for more depth and truth, and this one defintely fits the bill in every respect...so much so it has exceeded my expectations! Thank you Torchlighters for a job well done, and thank you CBD for making this series affordable!
Sarah5 Stars Out Of 5The Torchlighters SeriesNovember 11, 2015SarahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A MUST HAVE for any home or church. I was taught about the different missionaries when I was growing up. When I started working with the children's ministries at different churches throughout my adult life, I noticed that all the lessons were boxed lessons and rarely taught about the price that was paid so we have the FREEDOM to worship in America today.. and the price that was paid to spread the gospel throughout the world. People gave their lives in order to have the Bible translated and put in print. In searching for a way to TELL THE STORIES, I stumbled across this series. I call it another DIVINE APPOINTMENT for I can't imagine not having seen them myself. My husband and I at the beginning of this year 2015 started a student church for children 7-12 years old. This was the first series we used in the classroom. Every DVD is simply beyond words and the children LOVED LOVED LOVED them and talked about them for weeks! WE have moved on to WHAT'S IN THE BIBLE, another series I HIGHLY recommend... but when the new church year begins we will again show this series. We LOVE them so much we have named our student church after them... we are called THE TORCHLIGHTERS :) MORE PLEASE :)

If you were to collect each video separately it would cost you more than $130, so this is a pretty good price.
There are many extras on the discs in addition to the 30 min animated show.
As a family (and homeschooling) we are watching through one disc a week, and likely will go back and review each one to see if they retained what they had learned. :-)
Some of these people were martyred and that is specifically covered. If you feel your child can not handle that, you may want to preview the video first.
We are enjoying with kids 7 years - 14 years.
These videos would also serve a good purpose in a large group setting. The student packets are a great addition to getting involved with the hero's life and being well educated about details of their lives.
